Stayed here at short notice after other accomodation let us down! Short walk from the city centre, approx 10/15minute walk Staff at front desk were very helpful, rooms were modern and clean, bed was comfortable! Only critisism is lack of tv however you can rent a dvd player and dvds from reception which i thought was a good idea. Room... More

I stayed here for 4 nights during the Edinburgh Festival in 2013. Accommodation prices are sky high in the city during the festival period, but this was one of the cheapest available. The rooms and communal areas were extremely clean and well-maintained. Staff were friendly. For festival-goers, the location is not ideal, as it is situated quite far from the... More

Did the job of giving me somewhere to sleep that was cheap, comfortable, quiet and clean. Bit of a walk to the main festival fringe venues, but this was enjoyable most of the time. Shared kitchen didn't seem clean and didn't use it.

Stayed here for about a week in August 2012. While I was aware that these are student accommodations rented out during summer, I was in for a very pleasant surprise with the quality of rooms, the location and the service. For about less than half of what I would have had to pay in a hotel of similar quality, I... More

We stayed here during the fringe and we were very aware of what a good price we had paid for accommodation considering other local options. The room had everything we needed, the bed was particularly comfortable. We didn't miss having a tv or food on the premises, there too much to do to watch TV and lots of lovely eateries... More

My room was a decent size, and had everything I needed to be comfortable. It was a good price for August (Festival time), and everything was dealt with very efficiently for me. Shame I was only there for one night, but overall I couldn't fault it for what's on offer! One thing of note is that there aren't any catering... More

We were looking for a safe, quiet, clean place to stay............it was just that. Convenient to train station, very walkable into the city centre. We had to leave early due to unexpected circumstances but even the two nights we stayed were well worth the money we spent. Less than one night in most B&Bs if you could find one that... More

Our second stay at Smart, during the Edinburgh Festival. The price is incredibly reasonable for August - I had friends staying in Jury's Hotel for £350 per night, and we were paying £99 for an en-suite self catering perfectly pleasant room. It is always difficult getting accommodation in Edinburgh in August, we've been coming for 35 years and this place... More

booked during the fringe when it was impossible to get a hotel or those that were available of course had upped their prices skyward!..this property though was the cheapest available and given this plus the fact it is a type of hostel rather than a hotel and so we understood there would be certian luxuries absent e.g. TVs, Hair dryers... This is student accommodation rented out during summer, though the building is very new and very clean. The flat we had was a corner flat, spacious with kitchen, seating area and bathroom. Only disadvantage was that the large windows on the first floor meant that everyone can see you from the street so you pretty much have to keep the... More
