We visited Edinburgh as a last minute thing so it wasnt too planned. After searching for loads of hotels we finally booked Royal Ettrick. After reading the reviews we were aware that is was not in the centre so we were prepared for this. The hotel had 2 buses that stopped out side, the number 10 and 27 and that... more

Stayed here for a long weekend golfing holiday with a mate and it was perfect for us. It is actually a hotel mainly with some rooms tacked on. The bar remains open til all hours for guests and this suited us fine, as we could watch sport on the plasmas until the wee hours. We had a car and parking... more

Reception was fine, parking on street, get an upgrade to the new refurbished rooms. Rooms are clean, avoid the attic rooms as they may be very claustrophobic. Breakfast is very good. more

Booked a late 4 night deal deal through Classic Britain at an amazing price and then looked at reviews and thought maybe it was a mistake. However our room was large, warm and comfortable with all the usual amenities. The hotel is situated in a quiet part of Edinburgh near Colington. A frequent bus service to city centre takes about 15... more

Family visiting us (local residents) from overseas in Edinburgh the location was great, I looked forward to showing them our city. After a 13hour flight we were shown room 19, freezing cold and the heating we were told was on a timer and not set to operate in the evening (coldest time?). Eventually we were provided with extra blankets. There... more

We booked one night as we were going to a gig nearby. I was rather apprehensive after reading some of the reviews however we are Mr & Mrs Fussy and we had no complaints whatsoever. Whilst I would agree that some of the common areas could do with some TLC and attention it did not detract from our stay at... more

Our stay at this hotel was fine. It catered for our needs which were simply to have a respectable base to visit Edinburgh from and for the price we paid we were happy. Travelling into the city was very easy as two buses leave from the nearby bus stop, either No 10 or No 27, you get one or the... more

Myself and two colleagues arrived to find that one of our rooms had been cancelled by an unknown person. We managed to get it sorted and were each given a room. My room (no 7.) was upstairs in the eves. The room was tiny, just as well I am a small person. There was a large mark on one of... more

If this was the last hotel standing I wouldn’t stay in it again. On arrival the first thing we saw was a large heap builder’s rubbish. This immediately raised concerns about the standard of the rest of the hotel? The hotels appeal did not improve when we were led into what appeared to be a semi-derelict bar (with black bin... more
