Check in fast, plenty of parking, room of generous size. So far so good...... but then I went to the restaurant!!! Told that menu was limited as it was "School Holidays". Ordered a steak (medium-well) and it arrived dry and tough as old boots. On getting the bill nearly hit the roof - the steak on menu was £16.95 but... more

First, the location. Situated between Edinburgh Airport and the City Centre, on a regular bus route, there is no problem with getting around by public transport. It is far enough away from the City Centre to avoid the seemingly higher room rates, but close enough to be a few minutes away by bus. And with the zoo located next-door (it... more

Reading some of the reviews here before we went as a family I was a little concerned. But to be honest I think this hotel has maybe sufferred from the old lady from Fawlty Towers who couldn't drown a mouse in her bath. Seasoned travellers will know who I mean. If you're a business traveller or someone who has paid... more

This hotel is just about ok, but I am only saying that as I stayed there on business so did not have to pay. I would not choose this hotel for a personal trip as it is not worth the money. The room was ok with a very big bed, but the bathroom was very very small and had a... more

Rooms are very small with hardly any space between the end of the bed and the desk. So-called family rooms are just standard rooms with a sofa bed so the small amount of space is reduced even further. No where to sit apart from the sofa bed so there is a fair degree of room rearranging come bedtime Service is... more

We stayed for 1 night which was probably long enough. The room was clean and bed fine. The room was very dated and small. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The bar and restaurant has obviously been refurbuished as they were modern. Went for a swim which was fine, pretty small pool. If you can get a cheap rate... more

Not bad Not good would sum up our stay here. The hotel looks awful from the outside (very 60's in design) but it is ok inside. The hotel has a large car park which was free (very good for a city hotel). The actual city itself is about 3 miles away and easy by bus. Slap bang next door is... more

This Holiday Inn is set in an ideal place, next to Edinburgh Zoo and with a very good bus service in the city centre - just DO NOT think of driving into Edinburgh given the current chaos with the road works for the new tram service. The buiding itself is somewhat 60s looking but is in good repair and a... more

Good sized rooms with air conditioning and a good Chinese restaurant on-site. Bar prices are expensive so better drinking across the road but apart from that it is a classy place compared to the hotels I usually stay in. more

We got a great rate and it was close enough to all the attractions yet still not too central, perfect for anyone wanting to go to the zoo as i think they share a carpark! The first impression when we saw the front of the hotel was eugh, but as soon as you see the reception it gets better. We... more
