I stayed at the Links Hotel when I decided on a last minute easter break in Edinburgh. It's in a great area, safe, beautiful, close to the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links, all the pubs, restaurants & shops of Bruntsfield & Morningside and also within very easy bus or walking distance to both old and new towns of central Edinburgh. It's... more

We chose the Links because it was about half way between the city center and some family we were visiting. The good: Beautiful view of the park from our gigantic window, friendly staff, good Scottish breakfast, bar open to guests 24 hours/day (and in a city that seems to go to bed early, that was nice...especially on New Year's) The... more

I was a bit hesitant in booking this hotel as it seemed that people either liked it or hated it and then read (after booking) that it was a hostel, which would be fine if I was in my early 20's again! Anyway, this hotel was just fine. It was a bit worn, but clean. The staff were friendly and... more

Basic, basic, basic !! Dirty corridors, old shabby carpets, and freezing bedroom. Heating didn't work, no hot water for shower in the morning and thank the lord I didn't want breakfast. Passed through 'breakfast room', grasy tables and general feeling of uncleanliness. You would need to be aware of this before paying room rate of £78. You would think expectations should... more

We recently stayed at The Links for three nights during a trip to Scotland. To begin with, I can say that for the price, we had a big room with a nice view over the park. The staff was also very helpful in making dinner and touring suggestions and providing any help we needed. However, the room was not in... more

Arrived to find a large clean room with three single beds. There were only two of us so we were spoilt for choice! Beds very comfortable, which is what you need after long days walking, and enjoying all Edinburgh has to offer. Be warned that you may have to tackle the stairs. We were on the 3rd floor and it... more

Nice little hotel, room was big and clean, the breakfast was lovely and the bar (which was next door, but residents could enter via hotel) was also good, friendly staff and a mixed bag of locals, students,(both local and from abroad) as well as having sky sports and a good selection of beers plus a good menu that served till... more

We stayed at the Links hotel this past weekend, and it was not at all what we expected from a 3 star hotel. First of all, I think the primary business of the Links is a pub, so attention is clearly not on the hotel, which is apparent in the decor and upkeep. Our heater wasn't working and no one... more

Warning, you may find yourself either sleeping over a very noisy pub or next to the very noisy pub. We were unlucky enough to stay in the room right above the pub on Karoke night. The following evening we were serenaded by a group of very happy college boys singing "The Gangs All Here" at the table outside. If you... more

This hotel is a good choice for groups of young people in particular (Stags, Hens etc) due to its decent bar, which has a 24 hour licence for residents and plasma screens and pool tables, and the reasonable room rates which can be obtained from some sites. We booked two twin rooms but both rooms had three single beds and... more
