Our stay in Ednburgh was enhanced by our stay in the beautiful B&B. The room was was large and airy looking out over a courtyard garden. The small touch of a glass of sherry was much appreciated. The breakfasts in the bright dining room were excellent and a great start to the day! Ruth was adelightful host and we would... More

We had a great time in Edinburgh, and were really happy to come home to the Ellesmere. It was very well situated, just next to the park, near pubs, and a quick walk to downtown. The room was fantastic - large, comfortable, clean, relaxing and well decorated. There was plenty of light from the large windows overlooking a great little... More

I stayed in Ellesmere Guest House for a conference in the University of Edinburgh in Dec. 2011. It was a really good and clean B&B. They also listened to my food allergies requirements and I had what I needed as a breakfast. The porridge was delicious really. They were very helpful and gentle hosts, who welcomed me with a cup... We spent a lovely long weekend at Ellesmere in February this year (2012) to visit our daughter and see the rugby international. Ruth and Murdo were perfect hosts. The room was stunningly furnished and the location perfect for our visit. The highlight of the day was the cooked breakfast with the porridge especially good. We couldn't think of anything negative... More

This is an exceptional B&B, I'm surprised it's not 5 stars! Ruth couldn't do enough. The room was simply stunning and fantastic breakfast - love the 'nip' with my porridge! I loved the location next to the Common and great position for restaurants. We will definitely be back.

I had a last minute opportunity to head to Edinburgh to visit my daughter who is studying abroad for the year. I stumbled upon this place, purely based on it's location - about 200' from where my daughter was living. What a fortunate surprise. I arrived on a cold February day, and they had a hot cup of coffee and... More

We recently stayed in Ellesmere house and were so impressed with both the standard of accommodation and the friendliness of the family. We arrived early on a Friday morning while Ruth was in the middle of serving breakfasts, our room wasn’t quite ready but in the mean time we were offered coffee and toast while Murdo (Ruth’s husband) chatted away... comfortable room, great breakfast, quiet. The managers were very kind. The only little problem, rooms do not have a desk. However, free wifi was working very well, and I managed to work anyway. The location is perfect to visit the city.
