This was a wonderful place to stay. The staff is just spectacular -- among the best we've ever encountered anywhere. The facility itself is lovely and the location - at Princes St & North Bridge could not be better. All 5 stars. more

I really enjoyed my stay at the Balmoral. The hotel is located in the city centre of Edinburgh, just opposite the train station. The service is great and the rooms are very clean. The decoration is very good too....not surprised....it's a Rocco Forte! Th only thing is the price....it's expnsive.....for a similar price, you can stay in a Boutique hotel... more

LOVE IT ~ The Balmoral is up there with the best. I have stayed on a number of occasions & each time I dont want to leave !! The Hotel is a Victorian gem with a Scottish & Italian feel to it. ( There is a beautiful Murano chandeier in the Palm Court ) From check in to check out... more

The Balmoral seems to be very much the Grande Dame of Edinburgh (although I can't vouch for the Caledonian), and has a very Grande Dame feel, although there's something a bit tired about it. The furnishings are all lovely, in muted colours, but when you go in the lift, it just reminds me of Blackpool - a bit faded. I... more

I'd heard a lot about the Balmoral but hadn't stayed there on previous trips to Edinburgh. This time, I decided to give it a try. I won't be coming back. First, let me say that the human side of the hotel, that is reception, maids, management, etc. are all excellent. Service is excellent, as you'd expect of a hotel of... more

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion on Tripadvisor.com following your visit. I am delighted that you found the service that the team provided “excellent” I am sorry to read, however, that you had reason to complain about the general condition and the age of the room that you stayed in. Having been able to...

Perfect location, in the heart of Edinburgh, with superb service and wonderful accomodations. Great deals can be found on-line if you look in a number of sites. Make sure to have the full buffet breakfast at Hadrian's, which is well worth the money. Concierge service is extremely helpful -- got us tickets for very popular events at the Edinburgh Festival,... more

Stayed on last Friday of Fringe. We were given free upgrade and what a suite! - wonderful view over North Bridge and from Arthur's Seat to the Castle. Dined out but the breakfast was world class. Staff very friendly and helpful without being too intrusive. Will certainly be back. more

We stayed here for 2 nights during the Festival Fringe. It is a great location and the staff is exceptionally helpful. We had a nice spacious room with a comfortable bed and a very modern bathroom. Quite expensive but we loved it. more

A great weekend stay. However, when we first arrived the room was disappointing although after deliberating with Manager, we upgraded and payed extra for a Suite, which was great. Had a fantastic time at the hotel and in Edinburgh, shopping great and nightlife even better. Recommend the Morello Mojitos in the Balmoral Bar!! Staff very helpful and accommodating. Also used... more

I really wanted to like this hotel - it's in a great location, and came with some good reviews. But it was a pretty soulless place that was exorbitantly overpriced for what it was. Perhaps it was because I arrived smack bang in the middle of the Festival and the place was packed but I probably don't think so. The... more
