We chose The Balmoral as it was a 5 star luxury hotel for a weekend visit to Edinburgh. We booked a Deluxe King Room (the second most luxurious room category!) . We checked with the reservation staff by phone before booking (a month before our visit) -to check what was the difference between a Superior deluxe room and a Deluxe... more

Great location just over Waverley Station. Spacious room but ask for an outward-facing room if a view is important to you, otherwise you'll get a view of the interior (not terribly attractive but still very quiet). However, I didn't spend too much time in the room and the size made up for it. Nice bathroom, good service, although no wireless... more

We stayed at the Balmoral for the 2nd half of our honeymoon this year. The staff, especially cleaning & spa complex were very nice and friendly, and when we mentioned the reason for our stay was our honeymoon the concierge upgraded us to a bigger room. However we were extremely dissapointed with the interior of this hotel. For a 5... more

We stayed two nights at this beautiful hotel. We had a lovely room and the service was great. Our room was very clean. Fresh white robes and slippers awaited us, along with many other amenities that make this hotel such a special one to visit. The staff were very friendly, very on top of things, and willing to make our... more

Stayed here for 1 night and it was extremely comfortable. Stayed on the 6th floor in a superior king size room. The bed was SO comfortable with lovely crisp linen. I am a terrible sleeper and can't stand cheap linen, fibre filled duvets and pillows so no problem there! I had a facial in the spa which was so relaxing.... more

We had a very good experience at the Balmoral for a brief Saturday night stay. We had a standard room that was inward facing, but he quality of the room and bathroom was excellent. Service was friendly and welcoming. We had dinner in the brasserie and that was very good. The hotel is centrally located. Its not cheap of course... more

Leaving the husbands behind to look after the children, my friend and I came to Edinburgh for a girly weekend to celebrate our birthdays. After much research, we decided on booking the Balmoral to give us that "special" treat and looking for that intangible quality of something distincitve.. This is a nice hotel, but I can't help feel disappointed with... more

Firstly, i think, i may be the hotels only guest to get stuck in the revolving doors - watching the doormen & kind gentlemen on at the con. desk trying to keep a straight face was worth it! needless to say that everytime i came down they opened the door for me. Its not easy traveling on your own half... more

Had a Saturday overnight stay at the Balmoral. It was warm friendly and pleasant from the first greeting at the front door by the doorman to the friendly cheerio the following morning. It certainly lives up to its 5 star status. All the staff are very friendly, impeccably mannered and courteous. We had a basic room, but it was still... more
