I booked a classic suite at the Balmoral for one night as part of a weekend trip to Edinburgh to treat a friend for her birthday. I stay at a fair number of 5 star hotels as I go on quite a few luxury city breaks, and overall I would say the staff at the Balmoral were amongst the best... more

The best hotel in Edinburgh. Located just a few steps away from shops&restaurants of George's Street, it gives a straight and fast access to all the historic sites of the city. We walked to Edinburgh Castle in 15 minutes. Very large, spacious and well maintained rooms, fabulous breakfasts with good music, very good service and attention from the staff. And... more

stayed for just one night in February, room had an amazing view over the city, great service, lovely entrance and great location overall probably still overly expensive for what you got and if the room didnt have a view I dont think it would have been worth it, as an extra charged 6.50 for internet use which was quite mean... more

After traveling for 21 hours, we stumbled our way into the hotel and were immediately greeted by enthusiastic employees that cater to your every need. I had booked two rooms for our party (deluxe doubles) and the rooms were very spacious and SUPER clean. The first room they gave us had a queen bed (we had requested one with a... more

This hotel is absolutely fabulous - do not let any negative review put you off. Stepping off a busy Princes Street you are led into a peaceful, tranquil world where the staff are so helpful and nothing is too much bother. The rooms are amazing, huge bathrooms, comfy beds, good quality room service, amazing spa & leisure facilities. But all... more

Went for a much needed weekend break. The welcome we recieved from our arrival through to departure was fantastic. Room service on first night was spoton. Breakfast was fab. On Saturday we went to the Witchery which also highly recomend. If you want the best this is the place! more

I knew it was 5 star when it was booked for me so I was expecting something amazing. I didn't get it. It was disappointingly average. The room, which was not cheap I found out, was nice but after travelling half way around the world I was looking forward to making a nice cup of tea which I had to... more

We stayed at the Balmoral for an anniversary and were overwhelmed with the whole package. The staff were exceptional; polite, attentive and there was no job too difficult. The room was beautiful with a great view and it was exceptionally comfortable. The hotel is also in a prime location for exploring the city. The only problem with the hotel is... more

We decided on a last minute trip into Edinburgh for one night (off season weeknight in December) while we were visiting friends in The Borders. We did not have reservations but I had looked at several possibilities and checked into rates on hotel websites before we left the U.S. We arrived at The Balmoral in the late afternoon after a... more
