Loved this hotel. It is expensive, but we felt it was worth it. We upgraded from a standard room and had a fabulous room. We had a large room with a sitting area and beautiful views of the Edinburgh Castle. Good wifi, great bathroom amenities, and a super bed. Everything about this hotel was wonderful. Had room service for breakfast... More

Afternoon tea was outstanding. Superb food, gorgeous surroundings, excellent service and a cute mini tea caddy to take home with you. The waiter in particular wadded to the experience. Nothing was too much trouble. Worth every penny

This is my fifth trip to the hotel and each time despite having the same AMEX profile, my profile details or previous visits were not known. The room was pleasant, quiet and on the 5th floor. Each time and each room has needed some paintwork or wear and tear maintenance at every room class. I had a brief bar snack... More

My girlfriend and I were staying in Edinburgh and she reserved a table for afternoon tea. The selection of tea and champagne is excellent and the food is delicious and beautifully presented. Also, the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable (especially Ricardo). In short: If you're in Edinburgh and out for some superb afternoon tea time, look no further!

Bed here are something from the 70's and the staff at the hotel doesn't even understand that people want a feather soft bed not a concrete bed. Who knows how long it has been since they have been changed if ever. Then the bed is so bad you need to go to the spa. What a joke- I've been to... More

We stayed here only one night so we could go to the Edinburgh Tattoo. The room was a standard room, good size, confortable, good bathroom with good shower and all the amenities you would expect in a hotel of this kind. The hotel is old but very well kept, pleasant, great staff. The breakfast buffet which was included in our... More

Had a great stay at the balmoral. The staff are very helpful and knowledgable. The room is nice size for Europe. And the bathroom was spacious. Nice sitting area. With a wonderful view of the castle. Would defiantly stay here again. Walking distance to many sites.

We really enjoy the Rocco Forte hotel group's properties, so it was a no-brainer to choose the Balmoral during what is becoming our annual summer visit to Scotland. It was a smart choice. The property has been completely refurbished to a high standard and possesses all the features of a memorably great hotel. The staff are wonderful: pleasant, friendly, helpful... More

I find it very difficult for a Luxury hotel to maintain such a status with a modern decoration. Some readers may have a different view of course, but why go to an old building with a modern decoration? This being said, the entrance hall is nicely decorated in a modern way. Things tend to change in my view in the... More

Had a fantastic stay at the Balmoral last week. We were greeted by a lovely Italian lady on reception who was extremely cheerful, professional and knowledgable. Our request for a room with a walk in shower for my husband who is disabled was no problem. We were given an extremely spacious room with a sofa and relaxing chairs. The room... More
