I had the pleasure of accompanying one of my groups on their annual conference in Edinburgh, Scotland. The hotel was outstanding. The staff and level of service particularly with the conference service staff was flawless. In fact, I would say in all my years of experience in the meeting and event business, no one has surpassed the high calibre of... More

There is no better hotel from which to explore Edinburgh. Exceptionally friendly staff, lovely ambiance and fabulous food at a number of price categories. Old style welcome awaits you both at the door and the reception desk. Always arrive early so you can enjoy the afternoon tea before checking into your room. Sit on plush velvet seats and enjoy people... More

I was expecting this hotel to be similar to an old CP Hotel in Canada (The Banff Springs, The Empress in Victoria, The Royal York etc.) but our room was kind of seedy & threadbare. Not what you'd expect for the price. Internet was hugely expensive & I thought it should have been included with the room, as it is... More

We stayed two nights at The Balmoral Hotel, celebrating our 4th Wedding Anniversary. This was a generous gift from my wife's parents and her brother and covered us for a standard room, Bed & Breakfast basis. When we phoned a fortnight in advance to confirm our dates, we were advised no standard rooms were available until July. I have become... More

We have just spent 2 nights in the Balmoral and found it to be a lovely hotel. It is so central, only a short walk from the castle and right next to the main train station (not that you would know it). Extremely courteous staff, very willing to help with directions and recommendations. Our room was spacious, fresh looking and... More

I have stayed in many top hotels in Scotland several times including Gleneagles, Turnberry and St Andrews Bay, the service and comfort in the Balmoral beats them all hands down. We had an executive room which was large and well air conditioned. The bed was very comfortable. The service was amazing, even the turndown maid addressed us by our names.... More

We stayed at the Balmoral for 4 nights. This hotel gives you the service you dream about. All staff, reception, breakfast, room service, cleaners etc. were all extremely friendly and helpful. The location could not be better in the heart of town with the old and new town nearby. The room that I booked via the hotels website at a... More

My wife and I enjoyed a week traveling through Scotland and stayed in some beautiful accommodation. We chose the Balmoral after reading the hotel's website and whilst expensive it appeared that the service and room quality would justify the price. Unfortunately the room was very disappointing, poorly appointed and quite small compared to many other hotels that we have stayed... More

Excellent accommodations. Friendly and helpful staff who call guests by name. Good location except for ongoing rail construction along Princes Street. Very expensive, with charges for local phone calls and wi-fi, which is only available in the public areas. Wi-fi should be provided for free throughout the hotel in such a classy place charging such high prices. Local phone calls... More
