My wife and I visited for my birthday and had a lovely time. Check in was simple and efficient and we were quickly reunited with out luggage without fuss. Upon entering the room I was confronted with some macaroons and a nice happy birthday message. Lovely touch. The room was clean and well appointed as was the bathroom. No complaints.... More

After being given a car that was a little bit Van like, we pulled up to the valet parking area and treated like our vehicle was a rolls Royce. The staff were incredibly helpful and courteous at all times and made checking in a delightful hassle free experience. The room was lovely, so much so we ditched Edinburgh and stayed... More

It is difficult to rate this hotel as some departments are very good, but others proved disappointing. Staff service at the Front Desk and Concierge were impeccable. They were attentive and very aware of client needs. The Check-in staff was wonderful and asked us if we required assistance with planning our evening, etc. Another example - I sat close to... More

My husband and I enjoyed our city break in this elegant, welcoming hotel.Everything about it was first class from its ideal location for sight - seeing to the friendly attentive staff. We had a standard room but there was nothing economy class about it at all.The furnishings and linens were truly excellent. The meal in the Number One restaurant was the... More

The Balmoral is located in a very central Edinburgh location with access to all the local landmarks and the train station. It is very well maintained and the room I used was a good size and the bed was comfortable. The staff were excellent throughout, attentive and helpful. As I only stayed for 1 night it is difficult to give... More

Stayed for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon break. Wow! What a lovely room and I can see the sea at Leith. From the lovely welcome the lady gave us on reception (my husband can't do lifts so walked up 5 flights of stairs - we need the exercise!), she described the hotel and the features, to Ewan in... We stayed one night and were very impressed by the hotel. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The room was comfortable, and tasteful taking into consideration the age and features of the building. It was extremely well presented. We did worry about staying here with out 4 yr old but I must say this was one of the most... More

We started our stay with their afternoon tea which was divine. Such a wonderful room, wonderful history and wonderful food & service. We couldn't finish so we were able to take the remaining cakes away as well as some tea leaves. Nice touch. We had a room overlooking Princes St & Edinburgh Castle. Although the room was too small, the... More

What a beautiful hotel in every way. Staff made me feel valued and special even though I was part of a large business group. I had what I believe is a 'standard' room, it was gorgeous!! Location is simply perfect, in the heart of beautiful Edinburgh. Ate in the hotel restaurant, was fab and not at all outrageously priced for... More

On arriving at Waverley Staion in Ednburgh it's short walk and an escalator ride to reach the entrances of this landmark hotel. We were warmly greeted by the doorman in tartan trousers (not quite kilt weather!) and then even more so by reception. The hotel has the splendour expected of a Roco Forte establishment and enough places to eat including... More
