I stayed at the Balmoral for 5 nights on a business trip and I cannot stress how impressed I was with my entire experience. My room was beautiful and very clean. The bed and linen was always comfortable and fresh. The staff where very friendly and attentive always going above and beyond to deliver 5 star quality service. Their attention... More

I treated my mother to a weekend break in Edinburgh. The balmoral was a perfect location providing easy walking distances to many of Edinburgh's attractions. Afternoon tea is a must my mum felt very pampered!

We had a gorgeous stay from start to finish; can't rate the staff highly enough - their attention to detail is stunning. It's not cheap, but the quality shines through at every turn. Very special indeed.

I stayed at the Balmoral hotel for 5 nights on a business trip. From start to finish, I can not fault this hotel! Reception staff were very polite and always offered us delicious home made fudge every evening! Room service was excellent, and housekeeping were delightful! Pure class from arrival to departure. Staff couldn't have done any more to welcome us and put us at our ease. Not cheap but certainly value for money. Ideally situated to explore the old and new town on foot.

Upon arrival from a 11 hour international trip, we were greeted quickly and with friendly attitudes from the front desk staff. Our rooms were ready and no one had to wait on staff cleaning a room like what happens so many times in the US!. It was your typical higher end British Isles hotel, rooms were fairly small (older decor)... More

I didn't stay at the hotel but did stop by for coffee with a friend. Am so glad I did! The Palm Court cafe is a haven of calm in the busy city of Edinburgh. Well worth a special treat for yourself (you will realise the significance of this comment when you're paying the bill) and definitely pay a visit... More

Excellent classic hotel with all of the modern touches. The Balmoral is a real treat. Spacious rooms, modern fitness center, luxurious touches all around, and wonderful central location make this the "must stay" hotel in Edinburgh. I have stayed in cookie-cutter hotels that cost much more. I am now a big Rocco Forte fan and will not stay in Europe... More

I like the hotel due to accommodation first of all. However when you entered the hotel you see that here is more than accommodation. Very friendly staff, ambiance is perfect and you feel relax in the rooms.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
