Location is excellent 2 mins to tram and station. Quiet, clean, good choice of food for breakfast. Friendly owner and staff on site who were helpful throughout I've now got to submit an additional 40 characters, job done.

Hello, Thank you for your comment. We take this very seriously and with care. The number in the mentioned group of University students was 26, and not 27 to 30 as stated. While we value all our guests, and take great lengths to ensure that they have a pleasant stay at our establishment - it is sometimes so that our... More

We plucked this hotel from nowhere after struggling to find anything on a busy weekend in Edinburgh. I went for this one purely on these reviews and I am glad I did! On arrival we were met by such a lovely lady who signed us in and showed us to our room. The room itself was a fantastic size set... More

My husband and I stayed a couple nights on our honeymoon trip around Scotland. It was charming. We were able to walk all over Edinburgh from this hotel and then come back and rest comfortably. It is near many restaurants and shops and we walked through Princes Street Gardens up to the Royal Mile, down to Holyroodhouse and even climbed... More

Situated a very short walk from the Haymarket train station in Edinburgh, this turned out to be the perfect hotel for my needs. In addition to the train, there are numerous bus stops, a cab stand, and a tram stop next to the Haymarket station making it easy to get to any Festival Fringe venue. It was far enough away... More

We stayed at this lovely hotel recently, and really enjoyed our stay. It's absolutely spotless and well looked after. Slightly old fashioned decor and a small bathroom was the only very small downside. Our room was huge and very light, very comfy bed too. Good range of food available for breakfast and it's in a great location, less than two... More

"Hotel" may be in its name, but these accommodations for travelers feel more like a bed and breakfast or quaint inn. Upon entering the main room of the hotel, you already feel right at home. Boon Choo, the innkeeper, greets you with a smile and an energetic spirit. She is dedicated to making one's stay as comfortable as possible. Ours... More

We really enjoyed our days, staying with Mrs Chan at this B&B. A lovely big room and we slept soooo well. We heard the birdsong in the mornings; it was lovely. Good breakfast, lots of friendly chat with the other guests. Grosvenor Gardens is conveniently located near Haymarket Station and just a 30 minute stroll into town. Good value!

Somehow my husband and I got to stay in the family room which was beautiful and huge! Such an unexpected treat! Rooms were very clean and decorated on a way that made you feel like you had gone back in time. Breakfast was good however in the future I wouldn't pay the extra to get breakfast there. Rather I would... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
