The best thing about the hotel is the building - stayed in second building and the features in hallway are amazing. I had room 19 and was small - ok by myself for a couple of nights but would not want to stay a week for 2 in it. I stayed here for the Edinburgh festival and thought that it was great. The owners were great and I really loved the way that it kept a sort of non-commercial charm by being located in two merged houses rather than a big building- the rooms were cosy and it felt like being in a real British home... The hotel was lovely and clean and with bus stops nearby very handy for getting into the centre. Unfortunately being on a main road it was very noisy from the traffic. I stayed here for my vacation in Edinburgh. It's a bit out of the way but public transport is just outside the door. I walked from Waverly station, not recommended, take bus 31 to Minto. The room was very nice, clean and breakfasts were great. Staff were very helpful. I would definitely stay here next trip. more

You can't beat the Thrums for the price. It's a little out of the way but the bus line is right outside the front door. The Royal Mile is minutes away by bus or by taxi.
