Everywhere appeared to be nice at first sight. But room very small, mirrors inadequate, room freezing, bathroom even colder, heat on for about 2hrs per day. Bed was very hard. Breakfast, no bacon, beef sausages? all a little strange. Because I had scrambled eggs my partner had to also, as you had to have the same, also no butter available.... more

We have just returned from a 6-day-stay in Thrums Hotel. It is a cosy, warm guest house. I loved the fact that the building is old because it has this medieval atmosphere that characterizes the whole city of Edinburgh. The rooms are spacious, with big windows, hot water in the bathroom, tv and alarm clock! Breakfast is typical english, made... more

The best thing about the hotel is the building - stayed in second building and the features in hallway are amazing. I had room 19 and was small - ok by myself for a couple of nights but would not want to stay a week for 2 in it. Whole place immaculately clean, think have been redecorating recently as smelt... more

We statyed 1 night on Thursday 6th June @ £69 (inclusive of breakfast and VAT). Thrums Hotel actually encompasses two buildings side by side. The main building contains the sitting room / reception at the front, guest rooms and the breakfast room looking into the rear of the property, which contains a secure car park. The host was friendly when... more

I stayed here for the Edinburgh festival and thought that it was great. The owners were great and I really loved the way that it kept a sort of non-commercial charm by being located in two merged houses rather than a big building- the rooms were cosy and it felt like being in a real British home... Great work guys!... more

On a recent stay at Thrums, we were disappointed by the general shabby nature of the place, other than in Reception. The bathroom in particular was not up to the 3 star standard we have experienced in other Scottish hotels and B&B's lately. Paint was peeling off the walls and the cold tap was very difficult to turn on and... more

The hotel was lovely and clean and with bus stops nearby very handy for getting into the centre. Unfortunately being on a main road it was very noisy from the traffic. The room was very basic, no chest of drawers for putting clothes away - just a small double wardrobe for hanging. The people who own it couldn't be more... more

The hotel was immaculate, The staff couldnt do enough for you, the beds especially comfortable noted the 6 other guests in my party. We had a triple and quad room for 7 adults for a hen weekend and was spacious enough in both the rooms. Bathrooms were also very clean. We got taxis into town but there was a regular... more

I stayed here for my vacation in Edinburgh. It's a bit out of the way but public transport is just outside the door. I walked from Waverly station, not recommended, take bus 31 to Minto. The room was very nice, clean and breakfasts were great. Staff were very helpful. I would definitely stay here next trip. more

You can't beat the Thrums for the price. It's a little out of the way but the bus line is right outside the front door. The Royal Mile is minutes away by bus or by taxi. Our room was clean, comfortable, and we really liked the separate shower / tub. The staff was friendly and eager to make us feel... more
