Clean rooms. Close to the city. Private parking. Friendly staff. Possibility to have breakfast, but is not included in the price. Private bathroom. Nice restaurants in the neighborhood. Close to Arthur's seat.

We booked The Thrums on the Internet and arrived to be met by a large free car park at the back of the guesthouse which was a bonus. Thrums is located within walking distance of the city on Minto Road and easily accessed. I had a sprained a kid but managed the walk easily. There are cafes and pubs within... More

We really enjoyed our stay there. We stayed on the main floor so didnt have tons of stairs to climb with our luggage, Edinbrugh is one of the best cities we've ever been to! This place has a great location on a main street and yet it was very quiet! Only negative thing was i found it on a "B&B"... More

Recently stayed as part of a city break. I really feel that I can't complain too much as the place is just so cheap but there are little things that would have made or stay far more conformable. For example the headboard was thick with dust, as was the mantle and with little scuff marks on the walls you really... More

However, when arriving I was met by a young friendly who showed me to my room and explained what was available. They have no Sky TV, but hey it's a holiday. The carpet was new and smelt so, the bathroom was adequate although the shower... More

This is a clean, comfortable hotel about 25 minutes walk from the city centre. If you don't want to walk there are plenty of buses as Thrums is on a main road, however obviously you have to expect noise from the passing traffic in some of the rooms. The price reflects the hotel's situation. My husband stayed here last month and... More

I had the most pleasurable experience with the Thrums. Being a solo backpacker, I appreciated the affordable price for a 3-star place. The staff were really pleasant (especially the kind and extremly well-dressed receptionist) and always helpful, Although my room was quite small, it was very lovely and cosy. The only thing I didn't quite like was the carpet in... More
