Recently stayed as part of a city break. I really feel that I can't complain too much as the place is just so cheap but there are little things that would have made or stay far more conformable. For example the headboard was thick with dust, as was the mantle and with little scuff marks on the walls you really... More

I had read some of the bad reviews before booking so I was dreading the trip. However, when arriving I was met by a young friendly who showed me to my room and explained what was available. They have no Sky TV, but hey it's a holiday. The carpet was new and smelt so, the bathroom was adequate although the shower... More

This is a clean, comfortable hotel about 25 minutes walk from the city centre. If you don't want to walk there are plenty of buses as Thrums is on a main road, however obviously you have to expect noise from the passing traffic in some of the rooms. The price reflects the hotel's situation. My husband stayed here last month and... More

I had the most pleasurable experience with the Thrums. Being a solo backpacker, I appreciated the affordable price for a 3-star place. The staff were really pleasant (especially the kind and extremly well-dressed receptionist) and always helpful, Although my room was quite small, it was very lovely and cosy. The only thing I didn't quite like was the carpet in... More

Stayed here for just the one night - and that's all I would go for again. The bed was comfy enough, rooms and bathrooms fine and clean, but not the warmest. Two of us were staying in a triple room, and so were advised not to use the bed under the window "as it can get a bit cold". Also,... More

We stayed at the thrums hotel for 2 nights on 12/11/14 staying in a lovely room number 18. This is not the first time we have stayed at this hotel and have always found the reception staff to be very pleasant and helpful. No need to pay the surcharge if paying with a debit card. A charge is made if... More

We were very unhappy with our stay from the moment we stepped into this place. We were asked to pay in full immediately after a long journey from sheffield. When we asked to pay by card the inexperienced receptionist immediately butted 'oh that's an extra 6% please'. So we asked if we could go to the cash machine to take... More
