A-Haven is extremely comfortable, clean, and in a great location. On top of that, David and his staff are super friendly and easy-going. I especially enjoyed their sense of humor. The house has great atmosphere and decoration. The price was right, and I plan to stay there when next in Edinburgh! more

We booked to stay for one night whilst attending a function. Location great for us, very helpful owner, David, who looks after his guests very well. Unfortunately we had one of the tiny rooms at the top of the house. Trying to get into formal attire was a challenge. Perhaps they should consider advertising the room as such to avoid... more

I read about this place in on of our tour books while still in the states, and I was so impressed by how hands-on the owner, David Kay, seemed to be that I thought it would be a good place for me, my wife and son. Also, it was the same cost that a 'family hostel' would have been! My... more

Very good service, David, the manager is a lovely person, always interested, in good humor. delicious full scottish breakfast, also with a vegeterian option (my girlfriend was lucky). Clean, good rooms, nice decoration. The only disadvantage is the distance from city centre. It's not far at all, but it would take some time (maybe 40 min) to walk. The area... more

Stayed here for one week at the end of the Fringe festival. The value and service at the A-Haven are extraordinary, as long as you don't mind the location, which is a ways from the city center (though in a good neighborhood). Fortunately there are three bus lines to downtown outside the door which run every 10 minutes on weekdays,... more

Stayed with a large group of friends on stag weekend and David and staff could not have been more accomodating. Rooms clean and tidy, breakfast substantial (and no shortage of extra toast) and service first class. Definitely recommended and would stay again. more

Just back from a couple of days in Edinburgh and stayed overnight at the A Haven. Very clean well run establishment, the proprietor David is friendly, welcoming and very helpful and forthcoming with any information you require. The rooms are very clean and well furnished and the Scottish breakfast is heartily reccomended. All in all a nice, relaxing place to... more

We stayed in this little hotel for 2 nights. Although the Edinburgh weather was very cold, (we will need to go back in the Summer to see more of the sights!) our stay here was great and we would stay here again in the future. The room was quite small but very comfortable and little touches like complimentary bottled water... more
