Fabulous. Small and quiet with only 12 rooms. Didn't see or hear another guest for our stay to celebrate our 10th Anniversary. Beautiful rooms. Great bar downstairs. Central location with views up to the Castle. The staff (Isobelle) was so helpful and showed us to our room on arrival rather than being directed like in so many other places. She... More

I recently stayed at the Rutland Hotel while attending a conference. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and my room was great. It was not your typical chain hotel and had a lot of personality. My only complaint was my room was warm even though I turned down the thermostat as low as it could go. The front... More

We stayed here for one night as a quick romantic getaway. The staff were great - they seem to take pride in working at the hotel and were very welcoming and friendly. Despite the (excellent) location of the hotel on a busy road, the rooms were incredibly quiet, and the huge bed was amazingly comfortable. A slight let down was... More

We stayed here for 1 night for a special occasion. Had room 11, the Castle View, on the top floor. A lovely room; large, very comfortable bed; fun, slightly gothic decor; beautiful large shower room with Arran Aromatics toiletries; windows on 2 sides with views of the Castle and Princes St. The reception and restaurant staff were great. Dinner in... More

Clean and beautiful, a view of the castle, and helpful staff. We had room service one night and the scallops were very good, as well as the Eton's Mess. Not a large room by any means, but very comfortable.

My husband and I stayed at the Rutland at the beginning of June for 3 nights on our mini-moon break. We stayed in Room 12, a junior suite with a view of the castle from the super king size bed! The room was spacious and modern, with a big bathroom with jacuzzi bath and rainfall shower. The service from the... More

Four of us (me, my husband and his parents) stayed one night in the apartment during Edinburgh marathon. The apartment was great- nice, modern, comfortable, even had a little garden! Staff were very nice and helpful.

We recently spent 4 nights in this lovely hotel to celebrate my 50th birthday. The welcome from Isobel the receptionist was warm and freindly. The room was clean, comfortable and unusual, with a jacuzzi bath and shower. We ate twice in the hotel's restaurant and could not fault the food or the service. We also ate breakfast in the bar,... Hotel very centrally located but still the room was very quiet. We stayed in the junior suite number 6. Very moderny decorated. Bed perfect. The 2 chairs unfortunately unusable. Modern does not mean uncomfortable. The lady at the reception was just. Great. She gave us tips where to go, what to do and she had a sense of humor we... More
