We found Glenalomond House convenient to the Royal Mile and other Edinburgh spots, due to its location on a busy bus route. Too far to walk to most tourist destinations but frequent buses made getting almost anywhere very easy. Rooms were clean and comfortable and breakfasts were tasty and ample with many choices.

I appreciated the warm welcome by the owner who gave advice about buses to use etc. The reproduction furniture is beautiful and sets the mood for romance. Too bad I was travelling alone. Great breakfast especially the waffles. Ensure that you get to the correct bus stop and look for a "Mayfair bus". I did walk to downtown but took... More

Stayed 2 nights in this newly renovated historic house in Mayfield Gardens. Great location to local transportation and 10 minutes walk to restaurants/pubs. The bedrooms are tastefully appointed with period furnishings and linens. Modern attached bath with instant hot water. Wi fi in room works well. Beatiful dining room for breakfast. Great service and gracious hosts make this a restful... More

My first memory of Edinburgh will always be Jimmy giving us a warm welcome after a long drive and helping us in with our bags. This is a lovely guesthouse that will not disappoint. We have stayed twice and our rooms have been lovely on both occasions. Comfortable and clean with a touch of grandeur! It is a real bonus... More

The guest house was lovely and well managed - everything was taken care of efficiently. Breakfasts were delicious and the dining room gracious. It was nice to have a pleasant lounge to relax in after a busy day and meet other guests, along with an honor bar. While the bus service is excellent to Old and New Towns we took... More

I had a great experience at Glenalmond. They are well sited, with comfortable rooms, gracious hosts, and good breakfasts. I was able to rest through my jet lag, and suit up for the remainder of my trip. Thank you!

We had a great two days here. The owners have refurbished this B&B with great taste and to a high finish. Really friendly service. Good location, only a quick bus ride to the centre of town or 30' walk. Loved it.

The Glenalmond Guest House is the perfect place to stay in Edinburgh if you'd like to be away from the tourist area for awhile. Conviently located along major bus routes that lead you right into the hub of activity, this guest house is amazingly comfortable and clean. Fantastic Host and a Wonderful Breakfast. Recommend to all friends and family.

We stayed here for 5 nights in November 2014 and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Fiona's breakfasts are the best we ever had. The accommodations exceeded our wildest expectations and the B&B is right on the bus route so getting around was a breeze. Plus the B&B is within walking distance of fun restaurants with great local food. Jimmy... More

Desperately difficult to find fault with this smashing guest house, brimming with period features. We stayed three nights. Our room was clean and tastefully furnished, with a comfortable bed and good shower; the owners were very friendly; the location ideal (just 15 minutes to Princes Street on one of several regular buses); and the breakfast to die for. Go on,... More
