This time we stayed three nights at the Amaryllis in October. We had the family-room for the four of us. The beds were great and the room was big. The only downside were the really small washbasin and the small space for the toilet. The Landlady was extremely friendly and made a superb scottish breakfast. So it was definitely worth... More

We had five nights at Amaryllis. Appreciated Stella's help in organising Grey Line tours for us. The room was quite adequate, although the en suite was tiny. Breakfasts tasty, Thoroughly enjoyed our time in Edinburgh, and part of this satisfaction was due to Stella's friendliness as much as the attractive location and the scenic spots.

I stayed at the Amaryllis prior to running the Edinburgh marathon. I'm happy to say that the guest house is a real delight. Clean, warm and welcoming. The landlady was very helpful and provided an early breakfast for those taking part in the marathon. My room was well equipped and the bed was comfortable. The guest house is in a... More

I spent 5 nights at this guest house in October/ 13. The room was a quit large and very well appointed. The only down side was that my washroom was down the hall, however I did not have to share which was nice. The rooms are in an older townhouse about 20 minutes walk from Edinburgh castle, numerous buses are... More

My husband and I stayed here for three nights while on vacation. Overall The Amaryllis House is a good value. Cathy is a great host who is informative but doesn't get in your way, which is what we prefer. We stayed in room 4 on the third floor. It has a double bed and a twin. We slept on the... More

Many thanks for your lovely review and I am pleased you enjoyed your stay. Unfortunately people do smoke in the garden outside the front door and yes that sometimes does permeate into the lobby as this door is usually open. I can assure you it is not the staff but other guests. I am very sorry if this compromised your... More

We stayed here in October 2012 for 2 nights. This guest house is in a lovely old-fashioned building. I see previous reviews were critical of the front garden but we did not see any fault with it. It looked tidy and well maintained. We had a nice sized room with one double and one single bed. Bathroom bit small but... More

For the price we were charged for this room, one would have expected a reasonable standard of fixtures and general appointment but it was a sad disappointment! Had it not been for the unlikelyhood of being able to find alternative accommodation of a better standard nearby at that hour of the evening, we would have checked straight out again! In... More

This review is not unexpected. These guests were just awful. I should have known from the emails before they arrived complaining about the train and ticketing services which seemed to stress them out before they even travelled. More

Reasonably priced, very handy for the castle, royal mile and other Edinburgh attractions. Friendly welcome and helpful staff throughout. Excellent breakfast served in bright and airy breakfast room. Well recommended.

Had a three night stay for business. This is a well located B@B - one can walk to all the tourist sites. It is in a pretty Georgian house with well proportioned rooms and a lovely front garden - certainly not a junky front yard. My top floor room was cosy; this was particularly noticeable as it was raining heavily... More
