Stayed here in May 2013 in a private room with friends. Rooms are small but clean and nice ambience. Got a may discount too. Staff is friendly and helpful. we wanted to transfer toa sister hostel in Inverness, and the staff managed the whole thing. Only gripe is that there is no free wifi/internet

Stayed here for a long weekend back in March (Thursday - Sunday). Was on a stag do and thought it would be good fun for the 6 of us to dig in the same room. Wasn't sure what to expect from the hostel as I hadn't done a great deal of research; the weekend was driven mainly by price, but... More

Stayed here for two nights whilst I did the Edinburgh rock and roll half marathon. Great rooms, well laid out so you are not in the face of your roommates. The showers were amazing, joust what was needed after 13.1 miles! The common areas are really spacious and clean and the cafe was well stocked and the people serving really... More

I stayed here as part of a larger group and was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was! It was my first hostel stay so I suppose I don't have much to compare it to, but it was nicer than I expected. The beds were comfy (more comfortable than my dorm room, to be sure) and everything was very clean... More

I went as part of a trip organized by something called the International Society in Manchester. The rooms were really nice and clean, the beds big and comfy, with private toilets and showers. Also loved the breakfast, which included 3 types of cereals, ham, cheese, yogurt, 2 types of juice, coffee, tea, and hot buns. Location is not awesome but... More

I have stayed in many hostels all across the world, and the best ones are friendly, accommodating, and welcoming to the weary traveller - as well as understanding that people who stay in hostels are usually travelling on a budget. I'll start with the positives, because the hostel itself is actually okay. The rooms are clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. The... More

Myself and 10 other pals stayed here for the Scotland V Ireland 6 Nations game to celebrate my stag do. I chose it as most other hotels/hostels had put their prices up hugely and cost was important. We arrived on saturday and other than a minor miscalculation of the cost we were checked in swiftly. We had 1 8 bed... More

We stayed one night at the Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel as we were meeting up with a group of Explorer Scouts, also staying at the Hostel, to teach them a First Aid course (Remote Emergency Care) as they are going to Brazil on an Explorer Belt Challenge later this year. The double room we had was spotlessly clean; all staff... More

The location is fairly convenient, as it is close to Waverley Station and to Princes Street. It is also close to numerous cafes and restaurants. However the location lacked the ambiance of Old Town or the busier, more interesting streets closer to the city. The beds were quite comfortable and the room was clean and tidy. The room was very... Good base for any visit. Room was very clean and had everything you would want. Only down point was the noise from the main ro. Would stay again. Hostel had a bar and cafe which were open late. Very limited parking which may be a problem.
