Good facilities but expensive. Location not that good, 15 min walk to Princess St and located on busy road with noisy buses and trucks til late at night and again from early morning. The Edinburgh Central SYHA is clean, modern and large. It is definitely worth the £30 a night. Of the three hostels I stayed in while travelling in Scotland and England, this was by far the best. It's clean, bright, well located, and has spacious rooms. I appreciated having private bathroom facilities, made good use of the well stocked kitchen facilities, and was pleased with the continental breakfast. more

I was very pleased with this hostel overall, it was in a fantastic location and the staff were friendly and welcoming. This hostel was clean, but not cheap, and we were told we had a double room, only to be given a 2 bed room - there is a difference! The kitchen facilities were good, as was the cafe/bar, but all in all very basic accommodation quite far from the centre of Edinburgh. more

This hostel is an amazing bargain. It has a great location in the Old City, walking distance to the Royal Mile and the Castle and only 10min from the New City.
