Good facilities but expensive. Location not that good, 15 min walk to Princess St and located on busy road with noisy buses and trucks til late at night and again from early morning. Pretty souless atmosphere and not very friendly staff. overall ok, but stayed in much better city hostels- nothing special more

The Edinburgh Central SYHA is clean, modern and large. It is definitely worth the £30 a night. What I liked: * Spacious * Friendly staff * Cafe with good breakfast * Travel information readily available * Day lockers * Clean & quiet rooms * Large kitchen/dining area What I disliked: * Its a 15-20 min walk from the touristy parts... more

This was a great hostel. The staff was friendly and dealt with me bugging them and asking questions. I had a single room and although pricey, it was good for single female traveler. The room was clean and had a shower and bathroom. I even had a nice view of the street. They had computers you could use for a... more

Of the three hostels I stayed in while travelling in Scotland and England, this was by far the best. It's clean, bright, well located, and has spacious rooms. I appreciated having private bathroom facilities, made good use of the well stocked kitchen facilities, and was pleased with the continental breakfast. more

I was very pleased with this hostel overall, it was in a fantastic location and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and spacious and they felt safe unlike some other rooms in city centre accomodation I've stayed in before. The self-catering kitchen was large and had most of the equipment you'd need other than knives and... more

This hostel was clean, but not cheap, and we were told we had a double room, only to be given a 2 bed room - there is a difference! The kitchen facilities were good, as was the cafe/bar, but all in all very basic accommodation quite far from the centre of Edinburgh. more

This hostel is an amazing bargain. It has a great location in the Old City, walking distance to the Royal Mile and the Castle and only 10min from the New City. Paid only £20 a night and this is excellent for a secure single room. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. Not sure if this is standard... more
