Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights 3 days in Oct. Was given Room 18, which is a large room with 1 double bed and 3 single bed. Located in a row of houses, so this is a B&B type accommodation and not really a hotel. Room is pretty simple with small shower/toilet. Generally the place is clean and well... more

This hotel was a short walk (down hill) from Waverly station. This meant an uphill walk to get back to Prince street, but walking is good for you. I loved that it was in a quiet part of Edinburgh (residential neighborhood). We had 3 of us, so we were given one of the 'family' rooms. The room was decent with... more

The hotel is a £4 taxi ride from Waverly Station, so it is essentially a 10 minute walk from Princes St in the new city. It is in a residential area and was obviously a very large house at one time. The rooms are huge. Our room had space to sleep 4. The shower was a bit on the old... more

This was our third stay at the Claremont in the last five years. The hotel’s website advertises itself as a 1-star hotel which is defined as ‘Acceptable’ on the Scottish Tourist board website. We think it is rather better than this which is one of the reasons it is our preferred choice in Edinburgh. It lies on a crescent of... more

Stayed here for one night to break up a long journey home from the highlands back to Yorkshire. Part of a grand looking crescent of town houses, but alas not so grand inside. Our room was very large with a king size bed plus 3 singles for just 2 of us. En suite shower room and a view of the... more

Found this hotel on the internet but booked direct over the phone. Booking handled efficiently & confirmed by email. A private car park is a big bonus for a city hotel. Our room was huge & with a very big ensuite toilet/shower room. Staff are all keen & helpfull & we spent a pleasant evening in the bar. It is... more

Coming to Edinburgh to take part in the marathon, we needed somewhere not too far from the start at Carlton Hill and with a bath to relax in after the event! After searching through details of many extremely expensive hotels in Edinburgh, we came across the Claremont which seemed to have everything we needed but at a very reasonable price.... more

we found this hotel after looking around after leaving a dreadful hostel. at 28 pounds each, it was only 6 pounds per person more than a hostel and for this we had a luxurious and large room, a private bathroom, a television and a wonderful breakfast. this 6 pounds extra was a very good investment! The staff were friendly and... more

We drove into Edinburgh without a hotel reservation. One of our travel books listed the Claremont Hotel. It was easy to find and is located on a quiet tree-lined street about 4 blocks off Princes Street in the Broughton/Calton Hill area. We were given the last available room (of about 20 rooms total). It was huge (easily 500 sq feet)... more
