Stayed one night in Sept 2014 and had a nice stay First impressions were not good as once got to reception the receptionist wanted to charge £50 to our card even though we had paid in full in advance . This is the first time my card has not just been swiped for security and when we asked for clarification... More

We stayed three nights with our tour and had a wonderful time. Old time charm, very clean, friendly staff, large and clean rooms, comfortable bed, the restaurant has very good food, we had buffett breakfast every morning and it was always good with a large variety of items. We also had lunch one day, the ham hock sandwich and it... More

Spent a long weekend here in Sept 2014. A very large room, in the front , overlooking 2 night clubs across the road. By default, housekeeping opens the windows, so you can hear the noise, but closing them does the trick. Very central for pubs, restaurants and shopping, Helpful staff, especially the concierge(s).

After paying £200 a night for a room you expect something a bit special, our room was rear facing (with a view of some bins) and looked more like a b&b £60 a night kind of place. We booked a double room, and it was in fact a queen sized bed. On the plus side, location was great, breakfast very... More

Everything about this hotel is top quality- from the service of the staff to the quality of the towels and bed linen. We stayed in 752 which has beautiful panoramic views. The tempus bar & restaurant serve at a 5 star standard and are opulent without being OTT. The location is perfect for investigating the city or just walking nearby.... More

Stay here 3 or 4 times a year for w/end shopping breaks. Love staff, location & hotel building. Only once got a noisy room due to bottle bins being emptied in the early hours just below us but didn't say anything at the time. E-mailed hotel about it though when we organised our next w/end & got a lovely reply... More

We stayed at the George Hotel during the fringe festival, so we expected a bit of noise, which was not too bad in the end. The rooms were not too big but well furnished, the bed was comfortable and big and there was plenty of room in the wardrobe ( which included ironing facilities, you never know....). I was impressed... More

Excellent location. Room 752 was peaceful with a panoramic view over Edinburgh to the coast. Romantic for sundowners. Large comfortable bed. Great reception and concierge staff. Wonderful bar with good range of well-priced whisky, and view of street life. We spent 2 days there during Freshers Week, and saw students happily queuing for the local clubs. This must be the... We stayed here for the Tattoo and found it to be in a really great location. Walking distance to just about everything, loads of restaurants, cafes and pubs close by and a lovely building! The room we had was a standard double and was fine for the 3 days we stayed there. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom well appointed... More
