The hotel as lovely, great location for shopping and restaurants, parking was terrible as the hotel has been there for ages, you have to park quite a long way away but you do get some discount as you're staying at the hotel. The food was nice but they charge you silly prices to get it delivered from your room so... More

Having stayed at The George before we didn't hesitate booking again after having a lovely room.Unfortunately whist a beautiful foyer ,breakfast and friendly concierge ,our experience this year was different. The front desk weren't very helpful with our car and parking (so I suggest don't have one in Edinburgh as you need to park in a shopping centre car park which... We recently stayed at this hotel during a visit to Edinburgh. The hotel room was nice and roomy and the bed was very comfortable. Not to soft, not to hard. The bathroom was very clean. As most hotel rooms in Scotland they didn't have a shelf to put your toiletries. This hotel was very old and you could tell by... More

Great placed hotel on the heart of the city, with great shops and other bars and restaurants very near. Staff were excellent and breakfast was very good. Shame that all the staff did not have name badges on, so I can't name people. However a very tall guy from Fife, who served us in the bar was great. Would defiantly... More

Two night stay to attend a wedding at Edinburgh Zoo of all places! Foreign and Scottish staff all very friendly and helpful. Nice to hear an English speaking Spanish receptionist with a Scottish accent. Concierge very helpful and unassuming. Lively and buzzing bar. Try for a 5th floor room at the back of the hotel for peace and quiet and... More

On arrival I moved rooms three times, which I've never asked to do before but here is why. First room smelt heavily of tobacco like a pub from the days of smoking indoors and I'm asthmatic so couldn't wait to get out. Was very overpowering so definitely not one sneaky smoker but days of it. To be fair the reception... More

This hotel offers an ideal starting point for visiting the town. Comfortable room, friendly staff, good breakfast. If you are disturbed by noise, then ask for a room at the back of the hotel, as there is a noisy pub right besides the hotel. Very tiny bathroom - no way for 2 people to be inside at the same time! Prices... More

My husband booked this for a one night surorise stay in Edinburgh. First impressions were great. Nice elegant reception are and welcomed by staff. Given keys to room and directions. Fortunately I wasn't carrying much luggage (husband was parking) as the room was along a corridor or two, through doors, downstairs etc. And this part of the hotel just isn't... More
