We searched the internet and chose the Edinburgh City because of its location, within walking distance of the city centre, and because it was a small chain Hotel. Before arriving we phoned the Hotel and spoke to Claire and asked for a quiet large room. The room was much better than we had expected and we also had our own... More

We spent some time looking for a place to stay for a 3 night stay over this last weekend, nearly 3 months in advance, could not find anything under £100 per night till we found the Edinburgh City Hotel for £80 per night including breakfast.. booked and paid in advance. The Hotel is in a decent location, on the south... More

Dear Peterminier_75, Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay last weekend. It was pleasing to read that there was a lot regarding your stay which you enjoyed, including the location, price, welcome on arrival and décor of the hotel. I would like to apologise, however, for the disappointment you experienced at breakfast on your first... More

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Edinburgh City Hotel for one night in May (Saturday). We were very pleased with the location, the hotel is close to the Royal Mile & Grassmarket, we enjoyed walking through both of these places to get to Princes Street. There are other hotels closer to the centre on Edinburgh but the streets they... More

Staff was very friendly. The TV in our room wasn't working and they went out of their way to make sure it was fixed quickly. There was also no problem getting an extra blanket for our room. Our room was on the fourth floor over looking a busy street, but noise was not an issue. The location is very good... More

The room was decorated well with a modern, boutique theme. The shower was great and the room clean. The location was within 5 minutes walk of the main areas. The staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't eat there other than breakfast which was good. More

We stayed here for 2 nights with out 1 year old in April.. Staff provided us the largest room in the corner of the hotel, very spacious, clean. The room also had an extra guest room with bed and TV. Staff were very helpful as well on anything we requested. The location was great.. 15min walk from the castle, Royal... More

The good things about this hotel are the central location. The rooms are very good. The rest of the hotel including the bar and "restaurant" are very small and odd. The staff seemed to share reception and bar/restaurant duties which lead to relatively long delays for service. There was no lunch food service. The hotel has a good room and... More

a very 'brisk' receptionist soon saw us to our rooms, we had booked two double rooms, ours were both on the ground floor so very easy to access.both rooms were very comfy, clean and fresh, with all usual facilities.only limited parking at the hotel, but hotel is situated close to everything really. Stayed with a friend on a one night theatre break. The reception staff were lovely, decor fresh and pleasing. The room and bathroom were really clean, well decorated and comfortable. The biggest let down was the main course at dinner. The salmon steak was bony, meagre and grossly over cooked. The dinner menu is not expensive at all, but I'd... More
