Our stay at the Roxburghe was excellent. The front of house staff (especially Linard) couldn't have been more helpful or more friendly. The hotel was lovely and the service was exemplary. Our rooms were quiet and well situated. Nothing was too much trouble.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Roxburgh and cannot wait to return! Beautiful hotel, great central location, the staff were so helpful.. What more can you ask for? We arrived around 10am, we thought we would be far too early to check in so was going to ask if our bags could be stored. There was a room ready for... More

Just back from a lovely 2 night spa break at The Roxburgh Hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were lovely, comfortable beds. The breakfast and dinner was gorgeous and in beautiful surroundings. The location of the hotel is great, right in between Princes Street and George Street. We each had... More

we stayed at the Roxburgh last week and can recommend staying here. The staff were accommodating and helpful, especially Jack who was on the door who always greeted us with a friendly Good Morning and was informative about attractions in the area. There is a choice of accommodation, ie Georgian or modern side. We chose Georgian and were not disappointed.... More

I've stayed in several hotels of this star rating in Edinburgh and this one compares poorly with them. We were on the third floor and the room was small and uninspiring with very basic facilities. The hotel is in an excellent location but I would not stay here again as there are far superior hotels in Edinburgh available for a... More

Fabulous stay with everything I needed, I arrived late to friendly and professional reception staff, my room was a good size, the shower hot and the bed comfy. It's also quiet and I had a great nights sleep followed by a good quality, generous breakfast cooked to order. My visit was short but I will be back.

Really enjoyable stay at this hotel. It is in a brilliant location just off George street and walking distance to many of the best sights in Edinburgh. The room was large and clean. It was unbelievably hot which was the downside but otherwise we were very happy. There is a good gym and pool and the restaurant and bar were... More

This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in so far and we will definitely be back when in Edinburgh next. Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
