Stayed for 3 nights with my elderly Mum. We visit Edinburgh regularly and have been staying at The Roxburghe for some years now. Mum has both mobility and dietary issues and the staff are always most helpful. Food very good, and comfortable rooms. Concerige Service is excellent. Relaxed atmosphere and good management. Lovely location at Charlotte Square.

A traditional hotel with clean, spacious and tidy, if somewhat dated bedrooms. Well trained, smart and attentive staff. Excellent central location just off Princes Street. Bar and dining areas are attractive and comfortable. Would definitely return.

An overnight stay in a high quality hotel in the centre of Edinburgh, did not disappoint. The room and service were very good, and the breakfast was first rate. Slightly let down by the lift being off for the whole time we were staying, (our room was on the second floor). Unfortunately we forgot our costumes, so cannot rate the... More

My friend and I stayed at the Roxburghe for one night. What a disappointing experience after a lovely week-long holiday in Edinburgh and the Isle of Skye. The woman at reception who assisted us was aloof, unhelpful and surly. The room was tiny and left much to be desired in terms of character or light. The only highlight was the... More

Centrally located Hotel with excellent service and Food; Close to all sightseiings, Rooms AND beds could be bigger, we felt as two normal sized adults somewhat "cramped" otherwise absolutely no complaints.

The reception/lobby is lovely decorated, the staff were welcoming and extremely helpful regarding recommending places to eat and sorting out taxis for us. The room was nice, clean but not particularly that big even though my friend earlier had been told it was upgraded. It didn't look much different to the standard room our other friends were staying in, however we... More

Only stayed one night in Edinburgh, but the hotel was ideally situated for access to city centre attractions. The reception staff were very helpful, valet parking the car on arrival and offering to help with luggage. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast offered a wide choice, we very much enjoyed a full cooked Scottish breakfast; the staff were... More

I really enjoyed my stay at The Roxburghe. Standard room is not too big, but well proportioned. Mine was facing the inner yard and extremely quite: zero noise and comfy bed granted me a perfect sleep. I personally don't like carpet on the floor (not to say I hate it!) but I know it's pretty common in hotels in the... More

Two weeks ago my boyfriend surprised me with a dinner and staying out night. No special celebration just to do something deferent. Since we got in to the Hotel we felt very welcomed and they were part of our excitement, very friendly staff at reception and a warm and high quality of service that is difficult to find. We were... Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
