The hotel was central to Edinburgh Castle, plenty of restaurants, bars, Christmas market and the shops. We only had the standard rooms, they were a decent size, clean and the bed was really comfy as it had a memory foam topper. All the staff were really helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were plentiful with a good choice. We visited when... More

We stayed in September 2014. Whilst this was a business trip is it also an opportunity for hubby and I to chill out. To relax and have a bit of a lie in without cat and dog thinking it is their God given right to wake me up from 6 am in the morning, like they normally do. The check... More

With some regret, have just stayed at the hotel again and after more problems, I don't think I'll be back. Arrived late on a Friday, having emailed ahead to check on a couple of things, and were put into a room in the new part of the building on the first floor. While the service is generally very good (certainly... More

Beautiful hotel with amazing staff. All staff were brilliant & nothing was too much trouble for them. Food was very good, dinner was great & at breakfast there was so much choice. It was nice to just step out the door & be in the centre of town. The only minus was that we didn't get our 6am alarm call... More

Stayed here for 2 nights and ordered 2 king size bedrooms. Both the rooms where equipped for disabled persons which we are not (yet).- The biggest annoyance is that there is only 1 chair and trying to use the sink in the bathroom where you will end up with backpain and spraying water across the toilet paper. The rooms are... More

I had a very pleasant stay at the Crowne Plaza, I thought the staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fabulous and the location was perfect. The room itself was grand, it was massive but a bit dark although bed was very comfortable.

The rooms were disappointing and dated. In need of modernising. Forget taking the lift as its much quicker walking. You would wait for ever!!! Worst of all was the attitude of the older man at breakfast who seemed to be in charge. He was downright rude to me when I asked him how to get to my friends who were... More

Arranged this stay as a treat with my girlfriend, but neither of use felt we'd been well treated afterwards. I'm not someone who enjoys complaining, and would much prefer to concentrate on the positive elements, but I don't think my expectations here were unrealistic and given that we only stayed one night, I'm amazed that in such a beautiful building... We have stayed here before, with a less than impressive outcome. However, we were persuaded to return, and we're glad that we did. The hotel is in a very good location, and Charlotte Square is lovely. We had a Club Room in the new part of the hotel, with a fantastic view of the castle. The room was spacious with... More
