I stayed here for a work event. I was booked for 3 nights with breakfast. Typical buffet style breakfast, food was hot and coffee strong. Staff were great the whole time! The downside of my stay was the interior. I was in a older room on the ground floor which needed some TLC in a bad way. It was clean... More

Learned a new lesson when we visited Ellersly House Hotel, Don't believe everything you read, We booked three nights here, read the reviews and panicked, Let me tell you we had a fantastic time in fantastic rooms set in a beautiful period building with staff that were so warm and welcoming. Breakfast was inclusive and met with our requirements and... More

We stayed at the Ellersly for two nights and everything was ‘No Bother’ for the staff. They were friendly, helpful and always seemed to be so cheerful. Every time we asked for something, the response was ‘No Bother’ The room was of good size and well furnished. We did stay in a better quality room but it was certainly good... More

We stayed here recently for one night. We knew it was a 3pm check-in so it was our fault to arrive 'early' at 1pm after a 6 hour drive. We joined the rest of the early check-ins waiting in the bar for a room to be ready. We got an early room but I just wanted to go back to... More

I have rated Ellersley House a '4' based on the excellent, friendly and helpful staff, the food and dining room, and the public lounges. If basing my rating on our room alone it would have been a '2'. I realised that the hotel is undergoing some refurbishment but sadly it hadn't yet reached our room (on the 2nd floor). The... More

The management photos show a lovely hotel from outside at a distance. Best advice keep your distance. on close inspection the window frames are so rotten they are falling out and windows cannot be opened. Inside the carpets deteriorate with every floor you go up, they have dangerous gaps in them and metal edgings that are sticking up. My room... More

the hotel needs money spent on it. the rooms and bathrooms are tired. the highlight was dinner which a great surprise - the haddock & chips was delicious. the only reason i stayed was my usual hotel was full.

We stayed here for a long weekend in September '14. The pictures that the website shows of the hotel are not a real representation of the hotel itself. Our room was basic, tired and dirty. The only bonus was that beds seemed clean (we didn't dare walk around without our socks on as it seemed rather unclean). The shower was... More

I recently stayed here w some family and had a nice stay. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast and dinner was good and there is a nice little bar to enjoy a drink after a day out in Edinburgh. The hotel is out of the city center but the bus station is close by and you... More

This is a great hotel although I'm afraid that when you take a close look it is tired and in much need of work the staff couldn't be more helpful and welcoming but afraid in my opinion they are charging top prices for a hotel in need of a refurbishment to bring it in to line with other hotels in...
