Me and my boyfriend have just returned from a weekend break staying at the Herald House Hotel. Upon arrival we were checked in quickly and given room 315 which was in the corner of the top floor of the hotel. The room was clean, quiet , smelt lovely and although small, was plenty big enough for the 2 of us.... more

Stayed two nights at the Herald House for my birthday. Rooms clean and tidy with a decent bathroom though I couldn't get the shower to work properly (my bloke managed it so must have been a blonde thing!) Paid £118 for the 2 of us for 2 nights which included breakfast. Bit outside the city centre, but bus stop literally... more

We stayed hat the hotel last night for just one night. Firstly the good points, it was easy to find and i didn't think it was that far out from the city centre. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bed was quite comfortable. There is a nice bar downstairs. Bad points: The room was boiling, and very small.... more

A great find, would recommend without hesitation.Considering we were staying in a capital city the price for this hotel was amazing. We felt our room was clean and though small had all we required including good shower and tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast was excellent and there is a small bar should you require a late night tipple! Our room was... more

I would highly recommend Herald House for anyone who would rather spend their money on entertainment when they get to their destination rather than on the accommodation, but at the same time, doesn't want to compromise on comfort, cleanliness and convenience. For the price I paid, I expected a basic guest house, but this is much rather like a small... more

Herald House is a 2 star bed and breakfast about a mile and a half from the city centre and castle that works just as a place to crash as a budget traveler. I wouldn't say it's in a bad neighborhood, and I've stayed in much worse areas, but I couldn't help shaking the feeling that I needed to watch... more

Good hotel/room, friendly staff, and yes. full monty breakfast. Its just the walking to the castle, good 10-15 minutes, and then down the Royal Mile and over to Princess Street. Then you have to go back and by this time you are very tired (specially after a good pub lunch !) I for one cannot afford a taxi all the... more

A bit of a walk into the city centre. Especially through the hills behind Edinburgh Castle. We worked out a less hilly walk on our second trip into the city and even got a taxi or bus in on a couple of occassions. Small room with a great heater (we were able to get clothes dry during the day while... more

The staff at the hotel we're very helpful and pleasant. The Hotel was clean and although the room wasn't massive it was ok, as we were there to see Edinburgh not the four walls of our hotel room! Would recommend as a base to see Edinburgh, as it's just a ten minute walk to Princes Street! more

This would had got a well above average rating from us for clean, reasonably priced decent accomnodation not too far from Edinburgh city centre. The staff were friendly too. BUT we were given a room overlooking what must be one of the biggest building sites in the history of Edinburgh. The substatinal heavy drilling and craning gear swung into operation... more
