We booked this on offer through hotels.com so got a very cheap deal and compared to the prices of the hotels in the city we jumped at the chance to book it for such a cheap price. However, there were a few 'niggles' that if rectififed this could have been a really good hotel. i will start with the negatives... More

Things we loved - the honor bar for drinks and having that living room space and courtyard area were the perfect way to escape smallish rooms. While we had a triple, with a questionable cot for the third person. Housekeeping did not change the bath towels that were clearly left on the floor to be changed. The rooms were small,... More

The hotel is an older building that appears to have been redone fairly recently. The family room we booked had two twin beds pushed together to form a king and two smaller futon-style beds that were just right for my 8 and 6 year olds. There was a small TV and desk. The bathroom was also small, but the shower... More

I enjoyed the unusual decor & feel of this hotel. Biggest plus points were the bed (excellent), honesty bar (refreshing idea & well stocked) and breakfast (freshly cooked). Decent value and very handy for west end, Haymarket station, city attractions and the EICC.

The hotel was only about ten minutes away from Haymarket station, and bus stops were close. The Fountain bridge canal was also nearby. The Grassmarket was easy to walk to and there's plenty of pubs there with live music and good choices of drinks. The shower was very good and that made up for the limited space in the room.

I must admit to being a little disappointed when we first arrived. It is about a 15-20 min walk to the Royal Mile and the heart of town, through some fairly dingy parts of Edinburgh. The room was small but functional and we had a view of a construction site. I'm not sure what the system was but to our... More

Absolutely fabulous place 9 lads 9 bikes, honesty bar and fantastic breakfast. Reasonable prices most accommodating. After biking 200 mile from newcastle this was our last stop and final piece of luxury. As our ride was for charity they let us all stay for £30 per person..... Very nice place

We stayed in the Brooks Edinburgh. Lovely friendly hotel with a great feel. The lounge with honesty bar and outside space is great. Room was a good size with everything that you would need minus a couple of things biscuits with the tea/coffee , drinking glass in the bathroom and a proper king size bed. The bed was 2 bases... Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
