Talk about good value for money and terrific location! we stayed there for one night and I wished we would have stayed there more (the others days we spent in a tent). It was within walking distance to everything, it was clean, great staff and they even let us park our car on location. I got a bit cold during... more

The Edinburgh Thistle is part of the St James centre, an ugly seventies shopping centre which will win no architecture prizes but does have the advantage of being right in the centre of Edinburgh and ideally located for Princes Street, the Playhouse Theatre, the Omni Centre and many other attractions. Given its history, we had fairly low expectations, but in... more

I booked this hotel as I had read that it was a short walk to the train station and Edinburgh Castle and found it was indeed only a five minute walk from the station and 10 minutes from the castle. I found the reception area to be welcoming and a speedy process. My room was slightly disappointing, apart from the... more

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights for attending a course in Edinburgh. The location is excellent - a very short stroll from Waverley train station. We were able to leave our suitcases at reception in the morning before checking in later. Simlarly on check out we were able to leave our suitcases to be collected later. Didn't have breakfast... more

I stayed for one night with colleagues and was happy with the service and general standard of the hotel. I had a spacious double although my colleagues had all been put in slightly less spacious rooms with huge Empress beds and bathrooms that looked recently retiled. No problem for me but if you would prefer a larger bad probably best... more

I stayed in this hotel at the end of April 2009 having booked a rail travel and accomodation package with a travel company. For £400, two of us got 1st class return train travel from London, which would have cost £700 and 2 nights in the hotel whose rack rate is £185 per night. Breakfast was included in our rate... more

Great location - ideal for the Royal Mile and Waverley Train station. Hotel reception very efficient and extremely helpful. Everywhere was very clean and well cared for. Plasma screen TV in bedroom with a good choice of channels. Good value breakfast - plenty of choice and good service. We also dined in the restaurant - excellent value and good food.... more

We stayed here for 1 night at the beginning of the month. We decided last minute to go to Edinburgh for 1 night and booked this hotel the day before. We got a really good rate on a late hotel booking website. We only payed £71 for the night, which were pleased with, i would have been disappointed if we... more
