I had a hard time checking out the 'old' name because I did not realize that it's now sold under the Accor group. Anyhow, this is part of the installment that I had from our UK trip last summer - apologies for the late review. Edinburgh is great - as our tour guide pointed out, if it's sunny (as we... More

For the price we paid I was personally very happy with this hotel, but when at reception and seeing prices of over £200 a night for the room we were in was a shock. I would certainly not pay that for this hotel. The rooms need seriously updating and some staff really need to cheer up but apart from that... More

The hotel is located in the centre of all actions! It was a little bit noisy with the Xmas market right outside our windows and construction work going on the roads. The staff were friendly. The only thing that gets me is the lift which always stops at 1st floor... More

The staff at the Mercure were extremely helpful and friendly. room was lovely, very spacious, fantastic view of Castle. I was surprised at how quiet it was but probably becuase was on 6th floor and there is no traffic on Princess Street right now. Only slight downside was the bath towels which were small and almost threadbare. Made use of... More

A nice hotel, great staff, great location. Despite being on Princes street, our room had good double glazing, so noise was minimal despite their being a funfair just outside. We had a great offer of 1 dinner, bed and all breakfasts for 2 nights: great value. Food was good, with breakfast or carvery being self service. Good selection of food... More

We held our works Christmas Party Night here at the start of Dec 2011. It was a James Bond themed night and the tables and decorations were fab. The food was amazing, well presented, hot and very tasty. The view over Princes St in Dec is stunning as you are directly opposite the big weel and Princes St gardens where... More

I stayed one night, to attend an AGM (connected with writers) in Edinburgh; drove to the city. Be careful if you are driving to Edinburgh at this time; they are putting a new tram system in and most of cenral Edinburgh, including the all important car parks is a micro-nightmare to negotiate (even with in-car navigation). Car parks near to... More

This hotel is located in the most convenient position of Edinburgh: Princes Street. Although the street itself is under construction and taxis have no permission to traffic, the main train station (waverly) is about five minutes walk (maybe less). We bought a daytravel card but we only used it twice (one for the Botanic Garden and other for get back... More

What a wonderful position this hotel is in. On booking I requested a room overlooking the front of the hotel and was very pleased to see we were given a small but very nice twin room with a fantastic view over the castle. Breakfast was lovely on both mornings and again a wonderful view in the restaurant. All staff we... More
