We stayed in this hotel as our daughters had bought us theatre tickets. What a marvellous placel. The staff are very friendly but also very professional. We were checked in by Ross who informed us we had been given a free upgrade to a Castle facing room, what a pleasant surprise and what a great room. He was also very... More

As the hotel was doing a special offer I booked and prepaid for 2 double (privilege rooms) for my stay in January 2015. Arriving at the hotel there was a very strong smell of cigarette smoke, now that may be from people congregating outside but the smell was still evident at Reception on the first floor, I feel that should... Stayed here overnight for a business trip. The hotel is centrally located on Princes Street, so perfectly located if you like a spot of shopping. The Royal Mile is a 5 minute walk up the hill too. The room was fine. Bathroom pretty basic but clean. Bed was large and comfortable and I had a good night's sleep despite the... More

Firstly I must express my gratitude to the staff of the Mercure Edinburgh for their excellent professional manner in the way they treated us, nothing was ever a problem.! We were alittle early for the official check in time but that was no problem and was checked straight in. Our room (666) was fantastic a very large clean, warm room... More

My husband and I booked this hotel after wanting to spend the day shopping in the capital. The location was great, right on Princes St a few doors from Jenners and Harvey Nichols with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants on the door. On entry, the hotel stank of cigarette smoke, where a few guest had congregated at the entrance... More

Hotel is in an excellent location, right in the middle of Princes Street. Rooms have a view of the castle so it's quite nice. Beds are comfortable and the room is a good size. However, we chose to add breakfast to our stay when we arrived and when we went down the next day, there was no record of it... More

I'm an Accor loyalty card member, and often stay in Accor / Mercure hotels worldwide. This Mercure is a hotel that's trying it's damnedest to make the best of its lot in life. It is a little bit dated, especially in the public area, though rooms are fine, and there are certainly better hotels in Edinburgh, though you have to... More
