My husband and I booked this hotel after wanting to spend the day shopping in the capital. The location was great, right on Princes St a few doors from Jenners and Harvey Nichols with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants on the door. On entry, the hotel stank of cigarette smoke, where a few guest had congregated at the entrance... More

We had an amazing view out the window could see the castle, Xmas markets and ice rink we could of stayed in and watched it out the window but we has bought the tickets so decided to go outside and brave the cold. Hotel is in an excellent location, right in the middle of Princes Street. Rooms have a view of the castle so it's quite nice. Beds are comfortable and the room is a good size. However, we chose to add breakfast to our stay when we arrived and when we went down the next day, there was no record of it... More

I'm an Accor loyalty card member, and often stay in Accor / Mercure hotels worldwide. This Mercure is a hotel that's trying it's damnedest to make the best of its lot in life. It is a little bit dated, especially in the public area, though rooms are fine, and there are certainly better hotels in Edinburgh, though you have to... More

The hotel was nice, it could do with a facelift in the bathrooms but it's clean and comfortable and what more do you need?! The staff were lovely from the man on reception when we arrived to the bar and waiting staff and housekeeping. You could not get a much better location, must be less than a two minute walk... More

Just come back from a girlie weekend in Edinburgh. Searched every hotel website for a reasonably priced hotel in a good location and opted for the Mercure on Princes St. and we were not disappointed. Barely 2mins walk from Waverly station and opposite Scott's monument. Ideally situated in the shopping area and with bars and restaurants just a minute or... More

Stayed for 1 night as part of a really good deal with Easyjet, flights from Bristol and hotel. Possibly hard to assess as we didn't, have any ,meals etc. Excellent nights sleep, great central location and all staff extremely pleasant. No problem with staying here again.

Booked for a group of 18 to have coffee in the restaurant overlooking Princes Street. Booked in November for a visit in January. Phoned the day before to confirm the booking. Duly assured all was well. When we arrived they had no note of our booking. They seated us not at the window in the middle of the room but... More

I am a frequent traveler, for both business and pleasure, and this was one of the very worst hotel experiences I've ever had. it's a total bargain hotel, so set your expectations low for room and bath amenities. the location is great, but there are many more options in the same area. the rooms are small, moldy and outdated. there...
