Fabulous location with breathtaking views from the bar / restaurant. Some areas of the hotel could do with some upgrading but given the value for money and the fact that Edinburgh City Centre is literally on your doorstep, no complaints. Staff excellent and buffet breakfast was superb. Will definitely return - our 'go to' hotel for our next trip to... More

Have just returned from 2 nights in this hotel. Could not find much wrong at all apart from the heat in the room when we arrived, it was like a sauna!!! Lucky we could open the window!! We had a great view looking out on to princess street and towards the castle! Food was great and very reasonable in price.... More

The location was excellent for everything we wanted to do whilst we were in Edinburgh. The staff were quite good on the whole as well - on check-in, and at breakfast. We experienced a couple of problems whilst in our room though. On the first night, we arrived, dumped our bags in the hotel room, went to the bar and... More

I got agood deal with this hotel from Amazon therefore I did not expect a room with a view and I did not get one! However I stayed in this hotel a few years ago and had the view then but unfortunately the funfair was there and it was extremely noisy. The room we had was adequate and clean and... More

Booked for a work trip, based on price and very good city centre location. Room was described as a double but it's one of the smallest doubles I've seen. Decor is tired; lots of dark wood, and a bathroom that is dated - and the shower has virtually no power. Worst of all was the incomplete cleaning - when looking... More

Ideally situated with bus stops and station opposite and shops all around. The rooms were adequate with the usual extras plus an ironing board and iron which was great if you needed one. We did find we had to request for extra tea/coffee/milks each day though and extra bath stuff as what they put out was a bit on the... More

Firstly this hotel is in a prime position on Princes Street a few minutes from the railway station and with buses to all areas outside. The staff were all very helpful and did their best to resolve the problems we encountered. We paid £20 per night to upgrade our rooms to have a Castle view which included coffee machine, bathrobes... We picked the Mercure Edinburgh City Hotel mainly because of its superb location on Princes Street, literally less than five minutes from Waverley station and almost opposite the Scott Monument. We were given a room on the front with a view of Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street Gardens, which we appreciated. The room was quite small but well equipped with... More
