Rooms outdated. Not the cleanest, had a horrible view but amazing location right near to everything brilliant if wanting to explore! However there are more hotels on the street that must be better than this one. However nothing major just needs to make a few changes and could be wonderful

We stayed four nights in this hotel. From the very beginning, we were surprised how central it is. It is located in one of the most beautiful streets of the city with a view of the castle and of the monument of Sir Walter Scott. The staff was very helpful and thet even found a solution to a personal problem... More

Room was lovely and clean. Beds were comfy and have to say we had a wonderful castle view. We didn't ask for it so it was a nice surprise. Only one thing was the bathroom did smell a little but wouldn't let it up me off. Would definitely come back again.

Had a wonderful stay in one of the castle view rooms with a balcony. Room was a really good size, really comfortable large bed and well decorated. Fantastic location in the centre of the city, really close to the train station and within easy walking distance of everything. Enjoyed sitting out on the balcony with a stunning view of the... Used the coffee machine but needed to use the very small milk pots ,two per cup. So one coffee only. One packet of biscuits! Used toiletries but not replaced next day, empties still in bath.... More

Two single beds in a smallish room. Great location and fine for crashing out for the night. Good staff and quick service all at a good price. Breakfast selection was good with a great view of the castle.

We stayed here for 2 nights and we're lucky enough to have a castle view room on the fifth floor. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and we were able to store our backs both before checkin and after checkout with no hassle. The room itself was a little on the small side but it had everything we... More

This was the last hotel of our tour of Scotland and we spent two nights here. Our room had 3 single beds, 2 of which could be linked together to form a double bed. The room was very tight - there was no room to turn around my wife's walker or wheelchair once it was in the room. The restaurant... More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
