The Abcorn is situated just over a miles walk away from the very heart of Edinburgh's attractions. It's a lovely place with really friendly owners and big comfy rooms. I think I stayed in the most comfortable bed ever! The Abcorn was really clean, and we had great breakfasts, served with a smile and plenty of local knowledge. They have... more

The double room was impressive and clean except for the noisy road. On the first night of my stay, I stepped out to have a cigarette when a drunk lady appeared. She was swaying and couldn't open the door. I wanted to help but she wouldn't let me. What a shame - it was one of the ladies from their... more

Isn't it awful when you realize that you are the first to write a negative review. It's such a shame, as the house from the outside looks very impressive and the inside of the house, I have to say, is spotlessly clean. I stayed in the single room, which was incredibly small (the description of the house was large, bright... more

First of all, the booking process: directly with the owners, no payment in advance, no credit card number information, nothing. Just like in the old times, they simply took my word for it (and I did, too), and everything was right. Then I arrived before check in, and they had already my bedroom set - so I was able to... more

We recently spent 5 nights at the Abcorn Guest House and had a wonderful time. Jimmy and Marjorie, the owners, are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. We stayed in their family room, which was very spacious and clean. On our first night there, Jimmy recommended an Indian restaurant down the street and we loved it so much that we went... more

I just came back from my trip to Europe. I spent 4 days in Edinburgh, Scotland at the Abcorn Guest House, which was a fantastic place. I just wish I had spent more time in Scotland during my vacation. I received a great welcome from Jimmy on my arrival. The single room was perfect with a great view of the... more

Just come back from a long weekend in Edinburgh. I went with my wife and was wanting to stay somewhere nice but not madly over priced. Most major Hotels were full due to the Rugby so after consulting Tripadvisor and reading the reviews managed to get a room at the Abcorn. I've never been to Edinburgh before so got a... more

Can't say much that hasn't already been said! Stayed at the Abcorn Guest House with two friends for a week during Hogmaney. The Abcorn's are super super nice--they assited one of our group when she became seriously ill, offered great advice when we asked as well as extra tickets to the street party in case we hadn't gotten them already,... more

We were there for 4 nights and had a wonderful stay. Our double room was very spacious. Our daughter's single room was cozy (a little small) but very functional. Breakfast was plentiful. Great location. Kind of a long walk into town but there's a bus stop right outside the door. We bought the all day passes for easy on/off. I'd... more

We spent 4 nights here and I wish we had booked a few days more. Edinburgh is a fantastic city to visit and the Abcorn is a great place to make your home base while there. Its an enegetic walk to the Royal Mile or a short bus ride. Buses stop pretty much right in front of the guest house... more
