Maybe more a Guest House than a Hotel. The hotel has been recently refurbished. The room assigned to us was not too big, but clean with all the services (complimentary tea boiler, whisky and gin included). A complimentary copy of the daily newspaper is available at the reception for every client (you just have to pick up your own copy).... more

My daughter and I booked a Theatre Break for 2 nights B&B for my 50th birthday, with show and taxi to theatre included for Dec 28 - 30. The guest house is a very well presented building, with small Xmas trees lit up with fairy lights on the front. Our room on the 1st floor looked out over the attractive... more

I had a lovely stay at the Allison house in mid-september. My friend and I arrived early in the morning and stored our luggage for a day out site-seeing. When we returned in the evening, Mrs. Hennrichs's gave us our key. Noting the plethora of bags we had, she was kind enough to give us a room on the ground... more

I had a very comfortable stay at Allison House. There was a huge choice for breakfast. There was also free internet access/wi-fi. It's a little way from the city centre but there is a very good bus service (bus stops very close to Allison House) which takes you right into the centre. more

We booked our stay at this B&B after looking at dozens of options. Booking was easy and there were no problems until we arrived with luggage in tow to learn that our room had been given to a guest wanting to extend their stay and we were promptly ushered across the street to a "comparable" B&B. The proprietor insisted he... more

Stayed at the Allison House last month. what can I say, the room was lovely and spacious and appeared to be recently refurbished, it even had a flat screen TV and DVD player, though I found there was plenty to do in the city so I didnt use them once. The owner David was fantastic and helped us arrange taxis... more

My husband and I discovered the Allison House Hotel about 18 months ago while searching for a small reasonably priced hotel near the city centre to spend a theatre week-end break for us and six friends. Allison House Hotel more than filled the criteria. They book and collect our theatre tickets (best seats) our taxi, and recommend good restaurants. The... more

We had a lovely weekend stay at this quaint hotel. I was quite worried after seeing some of the other reviews but we were very happy with it. Its more like a large guesthouse than hotel though. We had a lovely room (room 12) on the top floor with a view out over Edinburgh. The room itself was big enough... more

I visited this hotel as part of a family group to attend the Playhouse showing of Mama Mia. The staff were friendly - telling us best places to visit etc; the rooms, although small, were clean and well eqipped and the location was fabulous. Breakfast had choices that suited us all including the vegetarians. Best of all were the theatre... more
