Allison House is a great place to stay. Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast was cooked to perfection with all the traditional accompaniments to eggs and porridge. Cold cereals, yogurt, an array of fresh fruit and cheese were also available. And they included a very nice touch: two small flasks of Scotch were in the room as a welcoming to... more

This lovely B&B is on a frequent bus route within about 10 mins to the centre of Edinburgh. The owners are delightful and no effort is spared to make your stay pleasant. The rooms were of a traditional style, clean and obviously recently refurbished. The bathroom was small, but more than adequate. Delightfully a portion of whiskey and one of... more

Allison House is a welcoming place to stay, with a number of nice touches which set it apart from other guest accommodation. Examples of this were the complimentary sherry and whiskey in our room, the beautiful fresh fruit salad buffet at breakfast, and th free use of a computer as well as wifi access. Our room was spacious and nicely... more

We stayed here recently and the room and the gentleman who served breakfast and helped us check out was lovely. The food was great. The only tihng i would say is that it is a little out of town and if you had any disabilities the hotel does not have a lift and getting to the top floor with a... more

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a weekend on a the hotels theatre break package where we seen "The Witches of Eastwick". I would say it is a guesthouse more than a hotel. I made a mistake and booked a twin room instead of a double but they managed to switch it no probem. I wouldnt say its a... more

I stayed at the Allison House Hotel for 4 nights within the framework of an academic conference. First, the pluses: 1. Located within an easy walk of the University of Edinburgh 2. Despite being on a busy thoroughfare (lots of buses- easy access to town), no street noise whatsoever penetrates the rooms overlooking the garden. 3. The building itself is... more

Maybe more a Guest House than a Hotel. The hotel has been recently refurbished. The room assigned to us was not too big, but clean with all the services (complimentary tea boiler, whisky and gin included). A complimentary copy of the daily newspaper is available at the reception for every client (you just have to pick up your own copy).... more

My daughter and I booked a Theatre Break for 2 nights B&B for my 50th birthday, with show and taxi to theatre included for Dec 28 - 30. The guest house is a very well presented building, with small Xmas trees lit up with fairy lights on the front. Our room on the 1st floor looked out over the attractive... more

I had a lovely stay at the Allison house in mid-september. My friend and I arrived early in the morning and stored our luggage for a day out site-seeing. When we returned in the evening, Mrs. Hennrichs's gave us our key. Noting the plethora of bags we had, she was kind enough to give us a room on the ground... more
