We booked this B&B primarily for the locality, parking and price. Definitely not disappointed. The room was tiny but that's often the norm in older buildings. The room was spotlessly clean and quiet. Lovely little bathroom jam packed with toiletries and nice fluffy towels. Really enjoyed the breakfast, fresh fruits just the ticket. We could get around the city easily... More

We stayed here for two nights whilst visiting Edinburgh to watch the rugby, couldn’t fault our stay and will agree with all the positive reviews. Vivienne has been closed for a month and has refurbished the dining room (which was lovely) and some other rooms which we didn’t see. Just wanted to add how easy it is to get around... More

What a great place to stay, Viv is amazing, cracking sense of humour, and really helpful! If your coming to Edinburgh and want good value and some good banter then stay here every time! A************ The sherwood Is not to far out of town, lots of shops nearby and on the main bus routes. It's nice to come somewhere and... More

Vivienne the owner was very helpful throughout our stay, the continental buffet style breakfast was very good with a good selection, we would stay there again. A good location for 'The Queens Hall' and many good restaurants nearby.

The Sherwood Guest House was the very first place I stayed at during my very first trip to the UK this past summer which I chose after looking through numerous online listings. I made my choice based on other reviews that I read as well as the location in Edinburgh and what seemed to be a quite reasonable price compared... More

Vivienne was so kind and informative sharing tips about Edinburgh and Scotland. We were able to park our rental car right in front in one of the 3 spaces. Never drove the car again in Edinburgh until we left for northern Scotland. Yes, you may have to climb over a bed in room 4, but we never heard any noise... More

Vivienne made us feel at home and has a terrific knowledge of Edinburgh/Scotland. Breakfast was delicious, beds comfortable and the location was great. Go round the corner to The Old Bell for a drink or two. We enjoyed our stay at Sherwood very much. Thank you Vivienne from Kerry and Allan

Vivienne makes this place. She is an Edinburgh insider--warm, savvy, gracious, stately, and wise. My sister and I might have had a disastrous stay in Edinburgh-my suitcase was lost upon arrival by Air France, and a number of meetings and transit connections went awry as a result, but Vivienne offered comfort, good advice, a phone, a bee-line to the best... Close to public transit and 20 minute walk to town. Continental breakfast was adequate. The room was small and cluttered. There was not enough room to walk around the twin beds. One had to crawl across one bed to get to the bathroom. At night suitcases could not be left open as there was nowhere to put them and had to... More

Stayed at Sherwood Guesthouse during the Fringe Festival. The hostess was very friendly and had wonderful suggestions for dining, shopping, attractions and excursions. Rooms were clean, but bed was not as comfortable as I prefer. Breakfast was a spread of meats, cheeses, pastries, and breads. It was satisfactory, but I was expecting a home-cooked traditional Scottish breakfast, as most B&B's... More

Thank you for your review. All rooms are serviced every day unless guests are still in their rooms during servicing times. It would have been helpful if you had brought this to my attention at the time as this would have been rectified immediately. I am sorry you were only satisfied with the extensive choice of continental breakfast which was... More
