Stayed here for a night as a surprise for the wife for our wedding anniversary as a base to go and see some shows at the Fringe. We found a hand written card, shortbread and drinks vouchers in our room on arrival which was a lovely and unexpected treat. Check in staff were great and when we went down to... More

A very easy walk from where the airport bus drops one off to the hotel. The central location is wonderful for visiting all the sites in Edinburgh. Rooms are updated, simple, and clean. Very comfortable bed. Would definitely stay again.

Our Room was great, clean, including Bathroom etc. We were fortunate that our Room overlooked Hunter Square right next to The Centre Mile ! During the Fringe we had Street Perfomers from midday to midnight right outside that you can stay in & watch from inside at the Bar or walk out to enjoy them 'in the flesh' 😄

We have stayed at this Ibis many times over the years, the location is perfect, this year during The Fringe is was absolutely perfect - The Fringe started just outside the door in Hunter Square. Since our last stay the beds have been changed and are now more comfortable, with a mattress and a topper. The place has been completely... More

Good afternoon Bobbio. Thank you very much for the wonderful review. I was happy to hear that we have improved since the last time you stayed with us and thank you for letting us know. It lets us know that we are improving. I have passed on the issue of the towels to my manager. Once again, thank you for... More

In another City at another time, this would be a £50 hotel. During the Festival Fringe one has to pay top dollar prices. The rooms are small but adequate and had the appropriate facilities for a short stay. The corridors were a bit Fawlty Towers but when we found the room we were pleased how quiet it was for a... Good afternoon nutkins47 Thank you for your review. I totally understand about the Fawlty Towers corridors (one of my favorite comedies by the way). The reason is because the hotel is two old buildings connected and they could not match up the floors so they had to improvise a little. I have passed it to my manager about staff availability.... Ibis is never luxurious accommodation- that end of the market is covered by others in the Accor lineup. However this one did seem expensive for what was offered at £180 per night. The tiny room, without any outlook other than a view of an office was missing a hairdryer, which was very annoying when discovered with wet hair at 530 am... For any extras in the room (pillow, towels, etc...) you just have to let us know what you need and we can... More

I stayed with friends for the Tattoo for 2 nights. The location is perfect for the Royal mile and the castle. Very efficient staff and friendly with it. The room was spotlessly clean and looked freshly decorated. Beds are extremely comfortable and blackout blinds were welcome. Good selection of foods for breakfast. Recommended.

Such a mixture of feelings about this hotel. I stayed at the Ibis Centre Royal Mile for 1 night after a 6-day tour up in the Highlands. although it was during the festival (August) period my room was quiet. We had a fantastic experience at the Ibis on the Royal Mile. It is in the perfect location to explore the Royal Mile and the city of Edinburgh -- it truly could not be better placed! Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
