Compared with ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge, which is another branch 100m away from this branch, the room facilities are old and bit small. Breakfast is at same price but less variety of menu. But location is better. The bathroom is better than the plastic unit bath in South Bridge (both have no bath tab but good shower). I enjoyed... More

Had a three night break,in this hotel earlier this year. Check in was quick and efficient, by pleasant reception staff. Room 120, was small but adequate for two people. The bed was large and very comfortable, no problems in sleeping. The large window looked out over Hunter Square, thought it would be noisy, but the secondary double glazing was very... More

Checking in here the staff were super friendly and made sure we were well oriented in the city (We had just arrived in Edinburgh). The room was comfortable and spacious, with a great Ibis bed. The location is great if you want to see sights in the city. It's basically right on the Royal Mile, and it's just a short... More

Stayed for a few days to visit Edinburgh and the area. Close to Waverly station and right off of the Royal Mile. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spartan. No drawers to put your clothes in and a little closet type thing to hang your shirts and coats. No wash cloths provided so bring your own.... More

This is the 3rd time I've stayed at this hotel in Edinburgh. Highly recommend, location is ideal, staff are really friendly and very helpful and the hotel itself is very clean and well presented. Our room was a good size and overlooked hunter square which is really nice. It had large old windows which is a nice feature for such... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
