Upsides: Big and nice double room, clean and modern facilities. Downsides: Breakfast is OK but not included (+5.5 pounds per person per day). LAN internet connection (no WiFi) available, but not included either (+9,99 pounds per day). more

Have stayed here half a dozen times - which says something! Have had consistently good experience, and choose to stay in the Ibis (rather than some other more expensive alternatives which I have loathed) because of the quality of its rooms, the decor, cleanliness and location. Service has been consistently excellent too. Breakfast is fine (continental), and the new-look bar... more

What can I say, its an Ibis. Neutral, clean, breakfast was uninspiring. Absolutely fine for business but you dont wanna come here for a romantic getaway. Its quite noisy - thats outside noise. Location is convenient for the Train station. Edinburgh itself was lovely really Christmassy - gonna go next year with my family as there is a massive xmas... more

Central location, but very dark room and overall shabby feeling. Disappointing, because I had chosen Ibis to have a neutral, clean experience, based on previous stays at other Ibis hotels. more

A great location to stay during the festival. I was concerned that it might be quite noisy, just above the square, but my room was in the back and it was blessedly quite. And, for modern construction, I was surprised to hear almost no noise from neighboring rooms. Furnishings are spartan, but adequate. No tub, only a shower stall, and... more

I stayed at the Ibis, Edinburgh at the end of August 2007 as I had to attend a three day conference. I selected the Hotel Ibis based on my budget and its location, just off the Royal Mile. I was given a room on the fifth floor which was no more than functional. The room was of an average size... more

The hotel is clean and functional, the staff were friendly and helpful but I just couldn't shake the feeling that the place was more like a hostel that had been given a fresh lick of paint. My room was reasonably sized, but basic. The TV had some choice but the reception was quite fuzzy. The breakfast choices were very limited,... more

I was booked in by colleagues, and only looked at the reviews later. I wrote to the hotel asking for a clean room, and got a nice note back from the (apparently new) manager who plans to do up the hotel floor by floor and. replace bedding with duvets. I found the hotel adequate, if rather hostel-like and bare. Given... more

Last time I was in Edinburgh, I was driving and had my wife with me - so we stayed at the Apex City which had free parking and was really quite a good, chic, modern hotel (see my review). This time, I was in Edinburgh for just 3 days for a meeting at the University - and I wasn't driving... more
