Just back from our second trip to the Dunstane Hotel. This hotel is in a great location if you are travelling by car to Edinburgh. We got parked at the hotel and were welcomed by several members of staff. This time we were in the sister hotel over the road, the lady on reception kindly took the time to escort... More

Great venue just a short bus ride from Princes Street with stops outside the hotel and a short walk to the nearest tram for the airport. Our room was in the annexe over the road from the hotel and was beautifully furnished, spacious, clean and quiet. All the staff were very helpful, particularly the receptionists who carefully introduced us to... More

The hotel is excellent and the staff very kind and friendly. Our room was a twin deluxe room and it was perfect in space and situation. The bathroom was also great. There is not elevator but this is not a problem because the staff always help you carrying your bags. There is also a road between the two houses. Again... More

We stayed at the main house and had room no. 15 which looks out the back over the parking lot. Very quiet room but tiny, barely enough room for two suitcases on the floor. The hotel looks good inside and out. Only 4 stars because the room was so small and the hotel was very expensive (~350 euros per room)... More

Went to Edinburgh for the famous Fringe Festival. The castles and day triips were gravy. Everything about The Dunstane was first rate. The room, service and food for both breakfast and dinner were all excellent. Great place to stay - outside the city center, but within easy walking distance. Will be back again!!!! I just spent the weekend in Edinburgh & stayed in a single room down in the basement opposite the main hotel. I checked in early and the room was ready, the wifi fine and the room quiet. The room was small but perfectly serviceable. It had everything you needed and for a weekend where I spent most of the time... More

What a gem this place is! We stayed during the festival when finding accommodation is hard. We had a huge room with lovely views and a giant four poster bed. Breakfast had a good selection of buffet items and cooked options included in the (admittedly expensive) room rate. We paid a 35 pounds supplement for our 3 year old daughter... More

I am pleased you got to try one of our luxury four poster rooms - you are dead right they are such a treat with all their extra little bits like Tunnocks Tea Cakes and a N'espresso machine! Good location, excellent breakfast. The hotel is a boutique hotel but I have to say the rooms were more the big enough. Y The hotel is split into two town house either side of the road so as long as you don't mind crossing a busy road then I would definitely recommended this hotel

Hi Andrew F Thank you for that note about our rooms - you are very right, if space is one of your top requirements then we really would suggest one of our deluxe or luxury hotel rooms. Our boutique doubles are wonderfully designed but their are their for travellers who are either on a budget or who just need a... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay in July at The Dunstane. From the moment we enterered the front door of this beautiful hotel we knew we had made the right decision to stay here. Warm hospitality from all the staff, very comfortable and gorgeous room, first class food in the Skerries restaurant the list goes on! I thought the location... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
