Myself and my husband spent out honeymoon here. If you are going to see Edinburgh it is the perfect place. It's ten minutes walk in to town, the staff are so helpful and the hotel is beautifully decorated. We were greeted with chocolates a note to congratulate us on our honeymoon. We had dinner in their restaurant one of the... More

I arrived at the Dunstane early and the very help staff were happy to look after my bag so I could explore Edinburgh. Although outside the city centre 50pence 5 minute bus ride gets you right into the centre or you can opt for a 15 minute walk. On my return the excellent staff showed me to a very nice,... More

We stayed at the Dunstane Hotel, Edinburgh 12 - 16 May 2015 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this friendly and well run hotel. Excellent room overlooking the attractive garden. Good choice of menu for breakfast. Would certainly recommend it. Susan T, Newton Abbot, Devon

Stayed Sun-Wed last week, room was beautiful with everything you would expect from a boutique hotel. Everything was clean and well maintained, and staff were at all times friendly and polite. Perfect base to explore the city, just under 2 miles (30min walk) to the Royal Mile but the hotel is on several bus routes. We didn't eat in the... More

The Dunstane is a well put together and luxury boutique hotel at accessible pricing. Very friendly, free fast wifi, cosy bar, well decorated rooms and good bathroom products (Molton brown) make this place a pleasure to stay while in Edinburgh. Parking is available behind the hotel or the opposite house just across the road. It's a 15 mins walk to... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
