My significant other decided to whisk me away to Scotland for my 35th birthday. He booked the Parliament hotel and on arrival (after finally finding it) I was pleasantly impressed. It's not fantastic, but for the money we paid I was not expecting fantastic! The room we had was at the front and overlooked a cobbled road. It was quiet... more

Lovely hotel with some beautiful features - eg: the old fashioned elevator, now a telephone room, and the wood-panelled reception/lounge area. We got a bargain deal on visitscotland.com, with Sunday night accommodation less than half the normal room rate. The room we had was small but comfortable and clean, with nice furnishings. After being a day at the Edinburgh Festival... more

I really enjoyed our stay at the Parliament House. It was quite clean, had friendly service, and great food. The rooms and bathroom were spacious and clean. Their lobby was quintessentially Scottish! My only gripe is the price--the tariff has gone up considerably since our last stay, and we've resorted to renting flats when in Edinburgh. With the USD getting... more

Stayed here for 3 nights. Arrived late, at midnight, and we had a very warm welcom. The location of the hotel is great, close to the city center, but at the same time sheltered from the worst traffic. Our room was nice and well cleaned. The only thing I didn't like about it was the bed, the mattress felt lumpy.... more

Very disappointed in the Parliament House Hotel. We paid £150 a night through Hotels.com (not including breakfast) and were given Room 3 - a small, dark room that stank of smoke and had cigarette butts lining the window sill. We asked for a non-smoking room and with some reluctance (on the part of the receptionist) were moved to a better... more

My two sisters and I recently stayed three nights at the Parliament House Hotel. We shared the hotel's one family room, which includes two singles and a double bed. The bathroom has been reconfigured for accessibility, and the room includes a small refrigerator and minibar. The room is decorated in a tasteful contemporary design. Check in was handled quickly. The... more

Nice enough hotel with excellent location near centre of Edinburgh. Breakfast was fine, nothing special but staff friendly. Strange practice of leaving piles of laundry all around the corridors when we were there - not a good look. Best thing about this hotel is the location. more

Hotel staff were formal yet polite. The room was very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel if you wanted to be close enough to access the town, but far enough away to escape the bustle of the city nightlife. Breakfast was well cooked and served on a very hot plate, so no danger of a cold breakfast. more

I'll agree with most of the othe posters here that the Parliament House was a good choice, especially if you are popping into town for a day or two and will be using Waverly Station, which is just a few blocks down the hill. You're in the thick of the city at Waverly, yet up the hill it's quiet and... more
