Just a one night stay for the festival, first time in an Apex. Very comfortable bed, fabulous shower and toiletries, quiet room, able to include our requests without any fuss. Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast, great choice and price for room service. Well placed for murrayfield, close to train, tram and buses. Would definitely stay again and not just for... More

What a beautiful and comfortable hotel in a great Central location. We had a wonderful family room which looked onto theCastle. We didn't want to close our curtains at night. The breakfast was delicious with a great choice... Again we had it as we looked at the castle in the morning sunshine. We will definitely visit this hotel again!

Booked three nights whilst visiting The Fringe. Hotel is very handy for the Haymarket area, just a three minute walk from the railway station. It's about a 10 minute walk to Princess Street and about 20 minutes to the castle. There is a tram stop and taxis very close to the hotel. Hotel was very comfortable, exceptionally clean and good... Clean room, modern. Good price. Near to the Haymarket train station. Many good restaurants in the area. I would recommend staying here. Ate at the restaurant for breakfast. It was a typical continental breakfast, not really worth the high price.

We came here for a long weekend in July for our anniversary. I've stayed at Apex hotels in Edinburgh on business before, so I was expecting something quite nice. It's a bit of a walk out from Waverley Station, although you could get the tram or a bus to Haymarket, rather than walk as we did. The area around it... More

I went to Edinburgh for business and this is a gem of a hotel with extremely friendly reception and the room was extremely comfortable with big fluffy pillows, a firm matress and big warm duvet. There was good tea and coffee facilities along with luxury biscuits. The bathroom was very bright and a lovely pressured hot shower. I was a... More

Right in the heart of old Edinburgh....what a view in the morning of the Castle above... Breakfast was better than expected for a value hotel....room clean with a sound night's sleep....ask for rear!!!, but location great for a relaxed evening ad with pubs and restaurants so near.

Had regular stays at this hotel on business, was always amazing. Posted a few reviews earlier, but what I would add is the word consistency. Sadly, my project has now been completed, so will not return for some time, but thank you to the Apex staff who were all great and made my stays really enjoyable. Good offers on food,... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
