The Hotel is great as it is only a 2 minute walk from the Haymarket Train Station as well as the major Bus Links and only 15 minutes to the Airport. The area is full of great little shops and a mid length walk to the major shopping centres. The hotel is great value for money as well.

Hotel was ideally placed for walking to Princess Street 15 mins and Murrayfield Stadium 15 mins. Parking available on site. Staff very efficient, friendly & knowledgeable. Rooms very clean but quite small. Bed linen very clean as were soft white towels. Breakfast good and cooked meal hot & newly cooked. Will definitely book again.

Apex Haymarket Hotel was perfect for our visit: walking distance to downtown, great restaurants nearby, close to the castle and Royal Mile, friendly staff and an affordable price. Slavek, the nightshift manager of the hotel, went the extra (Royal) mile to make sure our trip was spectacular including providing public transportation guidance, restaurant recommendations, ordering cabs for us and making... The hotel is very well located in Haymarket just 100 mt from the bus stop/ metro stop to the center and to the Airport, where you get with a direct connection. What I appreciate is that you can chose to take public trasport to go everywhere but still locted at walking distance from the center (less than 1 km). On... More

Went with friends while hopping around the UK. The hotel is conveniently located in the middle of Edingburgh, minutes walk from restaurants and Edingburgh castle. The hotel amenities were quite nice and we enjoyed the pool and sauna during our stay there. The breakfast room was lovely providing lovely views of the Edingburgh castle and the breakfast was also quite... More

Dear Lici - thank you for taking the time to post a positive review following your recent stay at an Apex Hotel. Unfortunately you have selected the wrong Apex as we do not have a pool and are located in Haymarket rather than Grassmarket. I am sure however had you stayed with us you would have enjoyed your visit just... More

Hotel located just beside the Haymarket station which was very convenient - the bus from the airport dropped us off right outside the hotel. 10/15minute walk to the city centre. Hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Def recommend it! Will be back.

Well located Hotel. Short walk from Haymarket tram and rail station. Some good bar restaurants close by. Notably Mad Hatter and Jolly Botanist. Didn't have dinner at Hotel. Clean comfortable rooms. Friendly helpful staff. Happy with stay but continental breakfast not good. Dry bread rolls, a selection of meats which was 2 similar salamis and selection of cheeses being two,... More

Stayed here for 2 nights, simple but functional hotel. Walking distance to tramp and eateries. We have stayed in Haymarket earlier hence chose this hotel. Nice service and used the bar too. I was expecting complimentary car parking but that was not the case. Otherwise, I would recommend this hotel for few nights stay.

Stayed for a few nights on business. Rooms are spacious enough. Closet space limited but sufficient. Food very good and staff friendly and efficient Only gripes, small car park, and bedside tables in room both had broken trim on the bottom. Also I moved them out looking for somewhere to plug phone in and it was obvious staff dont pull... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
