This is a wonderfully located hotel in Edinburgh. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. We took advantage of the breakfast buffet one morning during our stay. It had a great variety of delicious food. I would definately stay here again.

Perfect location opposite Haymarket station and next to the beautiful grounds of the old Donaldson's school. Beautiful decor, big rooms and super comfy bed. Complimentary water in room. Fully equipped room. Great breakfast buffer. But the most important, friendly, multilanguage and helpful staff. A great choice for your stay in this magical city. Only 15 minutes walk to Princess Street.

I came traveling solo on a sightseeing bank holiday weekend, was expecting it to be further from the train station, but was pleasantly surprised - came out of Haymarket station, crossed over the road, and just two minutes and you're there! Checked in within less than 5 minutes, was offered wake up call, newspapers, breakfast, etc. On arriving in the... More

I spent 4 days in this hotel in occasion of a work conference in Edinburgh. The location was optimal to reach the city center by walk or by bus since the station was just one bus stop further. The room was clean and new. The personal was very available and firendly.

Service from the staff is amazing from check in through to check out. The food is delicious served with a friendly smile. The hotel is a hidden gem, just outside the center but close enough to walk for a days shopping. I will definitely stay here again.

The Apex hotel is a very modern comfortable hotel in Edinburgh. The hotel is very nice and the restaurant was very nice. The room was small but very nice with a large bathroom. The Hotel is located nice and close to transport although the hotel isn't located close to any major landmarks.

The hotel is lovely and cosey. We really enjoyed our stay and what made it better was the really helpful and friendly receptionist Esther. I accidentally booked the wrong night and she was very understanding and helped with changing the booking so that we had rooms for the night. 100% would stay again.

The hotel is located in the haymarket area, which is within walking distance of the main tourist attractions, even though it is not so centrally located. The hotel itself is fine considering the price, the rooms are small, but the beds are comfy. I slept like a baby. There's free wifi, and there's a kettle and an ironing board with... More

Dear Reviewer, thank you very much for your positive feedback. I am pleased to read you enjoyed your stay with us. I apologize you could not charge your breakfast to your room, as common practice in hotels we can only do that after a pre-authorisation is taken from a credit card. Kind regards, Z Jakri General Manager More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
