Stayed at the property for two nights in July. The reception staff were very courteous and helpful. The room was a good size for two people, though a little cramped if h have a lot of luggage. Well equipped with everything you need. Special mention to the great service at the restaurant downstairs. Wonderful staff at dinner and breakfast, who... More

Really enjoyed my stay here. Comfortable clean rooms, good position, easy waking distance to Princes Street, but away from all the hustle and bustle. Tasty freshly cooked breakfast. Recommended. Staff friendly and helpful

After reading the positive reviews on tripadvisor, thought we would give the Apex a go. It is a couple of minutes walk from Haymarket station and tram stops. Reception staff were welcoming and the room was clean and perfect for a weekend. We were on the first floor at the front of the hotel, it was fine for us but... More

The location is good, the rooms are clean, and any questions I had were answered quickly. At first, my traveling partner and I were not at all familiar with the Edinburgh area. As soon as we checked in the desk attendant made sure to inform us of everything we needed to know. Overall, this hotel is a great bargain if... More

I decided to give this a 5 as it met all my requirements. A couple of things I must point out, The rooms are quite small and one member of staff at breakfast did come off a little rude at times. I was lucky enough to be facing the back of the hotel which meant minimal noise. Beds are extremely... More

My husband and I chose to stay at the Apex Haymarket Hotel because it is within a few hundred meters of the tram stop...easy access to the airport and even easier access to Edinburgh City Center. SO convenient! Not to mention, if you compare prices in town to this area, you'll find that though more quiet and less crowded, the... More

Apart from a false alarm, hotel room was good, the bath is a bit high. Location is good, 3 mins away from Haymarket train station, a bus stop in front of the hotel and a few mins.walk from Princess street. Staff very helpful.

Stayed at the Apex Haymarket for three nights. Initially had a room facing the street but the road noise was too much for us and we were able to change to a back facing room. The hotel is 40 minutes walking to the main tourist parts of Edinburgh. It is also easy to catch public transport into the city as... More

Dear Credo55, I am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and you found us good value for money. However, if you return to us, please give our Taste of Scotland dinner menu a go, we have some... More

My colleague and I were very comfortable preparing for our meeting in the bright and airy lounge spaces, and the staff were, without exception, friendly and helpful. My room (at the top) was compact but comfortable and clean. The location is extremely handy for Haymarket Station.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
