My wife and I have been to Edinburgh a few times - we love it at Christmas time, so decided to book this hotel because of the location, also because they had a good deal on at the time that included free breakfast (which is usually £17.50 per person!). It took us a while to find the place, as we... More

Hotels in walking distance to pretty much everywhere one would like to see. Royal mile etc. Breakfast is really good. Staff are very helpful. Great value for money. Did'nt use any spa facility so cant comment on that.

My husband and I took my parents to this restaurant last night and had a most wonderful experience. The food was second to none and the staff went above and beyond. The Russian maitre d was exceptional and charming. Thank you so much for a lovely evening and exceptional service :)

Had a great stay here for our anniversary. The room we were allocated was spacious and very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Me and my wife look forward to staying here on our next visit to Edinburgh.

It is a lovely Hotel to dine in but the room was very poor. We booked a double room but we got two small single beds with poor bedding pushed together. The room was cold and the heating didn't work. The kettle was broken. The furnishings and towels were shabby though the bathroom was nice. The view was the car park.... More

I visited here in late January with family and friends. We stayed for two nights and it was excellent. The staff - from the reception and restaurant to bar and cleaning - were really friendly and very helpful. Our room had everything you need and had lots of room. We also had a view of Arthur's Seat. The breakfast was... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
