We stayed at MacDonald Holyrood at the end of an 8-day tour with CIE. It was clean, comfortable and modern, far and away our favorite place on the tour. We stayed in Scotland for about a week after the tour ended, eventually making it back to Edinburgh for our last two evenings before coming home. Our travel agent had booked... More

Stayed at this hotel for a girls overnight in edinburgh to celebrate our friend getting married. Found the concierge and reception staff to be very helpful. They phoned a couple of restaurants to organise a booking for our dinner and managed to get really nice Italian on George Street. Rooms were clean and tidy. The food in hotel was to... More

Stayed for leisure for 5 days. Hotel is about a ten min walk from the royal mile. The lobby area is nice with friendly staff. Breakfast was pretty good with a wide selection of choice. We booked a standard double. The room were spacious but slightly dated. The shower temperature fluctuated which was slightly annoying ! No noise at all... More

Stayed on business. Room was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast efficient. Nice feature is they will polish your shoes if you leave outside your room overnight. Overall a pleasant stay. Fairly central for exploring the royal mile.

Stayed at the Mcdonald Holyrood on 18th & 19th August for business. Hadn't realised the "fringe festival" was on which was an added bonus! The staff were excellent, very friendly and even gave us a £5 voucher towards the taxi as we were a couple of miles away from the office. "Jason" behind the bar was an extremely polite young... More

Stayed here for one night this weekend. It is a very nice hotel but really is not worth £250 per night. The room 401 was very large but the wardrobe was broken. The ironing board was broken No ice machines have to ring room service and wait 30 mins Every15 mins we had had the open top bus commentary blaring... More

There is little I could fault about this hotel as it is in an excellent location and convenient when we visited the Tattoo and the Fringe. Only thing it lacked was electrical sockets as there was only one with a three pin uk plug. Having paid £250 which is the market rate during the festival I had at least expected... More

Though at the bottom of the hill a street over from the Royal Mile it is still a good location. Close to bus stops including Hop on Hop off. If you want to do Holyrood Castle, you are right there. The staff was very helpful even to people walking in off the street. Breakfast buffet was very good. We left... More

+ A nice mid-range hotel, quite centrally located towards the Parliament building (a bit down the hill from North/South Bridge, 15-20 min. foot walk to Princes Street). - Furniture in the room as well as the interior of the bathroom a bit dated. Carpet not perfectly clean. Poor sound insulation (so you can hear everybody in the hallway and the... More

The hotel was very nice. Nice rooms, very accommodating staff and good location. It was only a three block to the Royal Mile. The Hop On-Hop Off bus stopped within a block. Breakfast and dinner were very good.
