We paid £192 per night and this hotel absolutely does not live anywhere up to this price! We were offered a free upgrade on arrival, but even so the Discovery room we stayed in was very shabby and tired. The breakfast overall was mediocre - carton orange juice and the coffee was out of a jug and was bitter! However,... More

Very charming hotel close to City Centre, from Waverly train station it will cost about £6 to get there. Nice walk to Princes Street so no need to take the bus. The hotel is very nice, we had one of the larger rooms (room 35) overlooking the street with a great view. Beds were comfortable, and since sunrise is about... More

My thanks to this guest for their kind words regarding Channings, especially for pointing out how comfy our beds are. Will look into the issue of the bathroom as our housekeeping standards are generally excellent and it most unusual for us to receive a negative comment in this regard. Apologies for any lapse in service but this will be addressed.... More

Charming, comfortable, and warm in every sense. I stayed at this charming "old fashion" (in a good way) hotel while attending a short course at Edinburgh University. The staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient. I arrived early in the morning and the person at the reception made a special effort to rearrange the rooms so that I could have a... More

The Channing was pretty well situated for walking to catch the hop on/off busses, shopping, and eating. Our room was nice, with large bay windows, which was good because the lighting was dim without the sunlight. It was also very stuffy and no fan was available. The breakfast selection was not as good as what was available at other hotels... More

Thank you for your kind review, apologies for not having a fan available - I believe there was quite a few handed out during your stay due to the unexpected heatwave but please rest assured we have taken a note of this issue and will make sure we have a plentiful supply for a future visit! I will make sure... More

Channings is superbly located in the new town, close to Stockbridge, which has a lovely row of shops and eating places. Hotel is in a row of Georgian terraces. It is a short walk across Dean Bridge into Princes St but lots of cafes and restaurants on way in and out. Very comfortable room with bath and fabulous breakfast included.... More

Enjoyed a nice 3 night break at Channings, the room was lovely and of a good size. Set in a really nice part of Edinburgh it's really convenient for getting around on foot, by bus and taxi. Also no shortage of fabulous bars and top quality restaurants nearby.

The bed was nice and comfy and there were plugs either side of the bed so easy to charge mobile phones, tablets etc. The room was a decent size, telly in a sensible place, tea/coffee making facilities. The bar was reasonably priced (and I was made the "best hot chocolate in the World" (and it really was!) and breakfast was... More

Warm and welcoming hotel with lovely accommodations. This boutique style hotel sits on a quiet street. It's been restores nicely and has lovely bay windows. The room service was amazing. We had the pigeon starter, crayfish linguine and nachos and I highly recommend. I am sure anything from the menu is delightful. It was all very reasonably priced with a... More

The hotel was in a good location, not too far from city centre (around 20 minute walk). There is plenty of onstreet parking available at £1.20p/hour but the meter only runs between 8:30am-5:30pm so not too expensive. The hotel is situated in a nice, quiet street on the outskirts of town. There are local shops within a few minutes walk.... More

We spent 2 nights here on a special deal for dinner.bed and breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our visit. Very comfortable twin room with huge bathroom-good hospitality tray and quality toiletries. Dinner on both nights was excellent and the staff were polite and attentive
