Channings Hotel is a great find near unique shops in Stockbridge and fun pubs on the West End. Its about 25 GPS taxi ride from the airport and is on a quiet street. The lobby and various lounge rooms are spacious and a great way to spend an evening. Beds are firm but with wonderful, sink in a cloud, pillowtops.... more
My husband and I traveled for two weeks around Scotland and parts of England, this was by far the most expensive and the least nice of all of our hotels. The room was really old and had a very funny smell to it which we could not get rid of despite opening the window. There was a large spider in... more
We recently spent the night at Channings and were very pleased with this hotel. The room was very nicely furnished, and had an amazing view to the west looking over Edinburgh. The city center is a 10 minute walk over the Dean's Bridge, or a very short bus ride. We had wireless internet in our room, and were very happy... more
We two coupels went to Edinburgh for 4 nights to explore this magnificent old city. We have chosen this hotel wishing to avoid big noisy centred hotels. What we had eventually - old, big, noisy and far from city centre. The first room number 50 was very small, probably a hundred years without updating, dusty and extremely noisy due to... more
We stayed here 3 nites while visiting Edinburgh and it was a wonderful surprise. Old row houses have been tastefully converted into this very charming hotel. Rooms were nice, baths large, clean, great staff/concierge and nice bar/cafe. Breakfast included with fruits, cereals, meats, cheeses, pastries, juices, breads. Concierge, Scott, was just grand at helping book a coach tour with Timberbush... more
stayed at this hotel over the weekend. it was clean, welcoming, and the staff were really helpful and friendly. the room was a medium sized bedroom although this was apparently a 'superior suite'. good sized bathroom and plenty of hot water and clean towels. we ate here for a quick lunch and had cooked breakfast both mornings and the food... more
We stayed at the hotel for two nights to celebrate my boyfriends birthday after a two night stay in Newcastle where we had stayed in a travel lodge which was awful! So we were delighted when we walked into the Channings reception which is beautiful. We were checked in straight away whilst sitting on comfortable chairs and we were told... more
From the outside and the somewhat dark lobby, this little hotel appears to be rather modest. However, we found it to be quite elegant and very comfortable. I stayed for three nights in a double room; my brother and wife stayed in a "superior double". The sheets, pillows, duvet were all soft and nice. The rooms were nicely decorated and... more
We arrived in the early afternoon and found a parking space right outside the hotel. The hotel appears quite small from the outside although quite up market. However when you walk through the door the hotel opens out tardis like into a very plush lounge area with very comfortable sofas great for relaxing and reading the paper. The check in... more
