The spacious apartment lies just below the castle wall in an accessible neighborhood with restaurants nearby, easy bus service and a nearby grocery. But best of all is the exemplary service offered by staff to lead you to great restaurants, tickets to events and just about any detail you need to make your trip a success. All with a smile.... Our stay at the Knight Residence was a good choice because it made everything easier and more comfortable....... for many reasons. The two most important were comfort and staff. It was so nice to have a separate bedroom, a slightly stocked kitchen (milk, bread, cereal), and a living room in which to relax. As for staff, Charlie and Chris were... More

Outside this place looks pretty modest, given its run-down facade and bars for neighbours, but don't be put off. This is one of the best choices for staying as a family (two adults one kid) I have made in ages. Lots of staff are nice and welcoming but these guys take it to a whole new level. Nothing is trouble... More

The staff was very helpful. We dropped off our luggage before check in and the staff was kind enough to take all of our luggage to the apartment. The place was clean and close to bus stops and a grocery store. Our family enjoyed the stay.

Stayed 3 nights at the Knight Residence last week in a 2 bedroom apartment. Everything was wonderful from the moment we arrived. Chris at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful, and went out of his way to get us information on getting tickets for an upcoming Hibernians match (...even though he admittedly wasn't a sport fan). Other desk... More

we have just returned from a visit to Edinburgh . We stayed at the Knights residence for two nights to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary having travelled from Northern Ireland. Our son and daughter who live in Newcastle and Liverpool respectively were joining us for one of the nights our daughter staying over and our son travelling back to Newcastle... More

The very best thing about this place is the INCREDIBLY friendly and helpful front desk managers. Charlie greeted us, showed us around the apartment and how to work everything, and was completely service-oriented. I felt like I was home the minute I met him. The place was large--two bedrooms and two baths with big family room and small kitchen that... More

Very helpful staff, and we were pleased with our stay at Knight Resident. You won't need a car (though we had a rental, which we left parked for our 3 days). Easy to self cater and kids were really happy with the little details. Highly recommend.

Apartments have everything you need for a stay with the family. Good size kitchen with all the essentials. Excellent wifi (free), good sized tv with dvd (there a nice selection of DVDs in the reception) and possibilities for streaming. We stayed there after a week driving around Scotland with B&B. Ample of space, a chance to wash our clothes and... More

Very well located. Just off Lauriston Place and about 20 mins walk (5 minutes by bus) to the Edinburgh Castle & the Royal Mile. The place is clean, though the rooms are a little small with low ceilings. The receptionists Christopher and Charlie are top class, friendly, helpful and eager to please. However the infrastructure in the place could improve... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
