Located very near to town and not very far from the Grassmarket area with many good food, and only 10 minutes walk to the castle. We were greeted with an abundant food basket too upon checking in. The staff were very friendly and helpful as well. Room is clean and modern, apart from the TVs provided. But if you're in... More

Hotel comfort with self-cater convenience made this a great choice for us. The welcome pack was generous and meant we didn't need to buy in breakfast though a small Sainsburys is just around the corner. The old part of the city is within easy distance with a huge choice of restaurants. Really comfortable bed, dressing gowns and slippers. Clean and... More

We had an excellent stay. Things which stood out were, central location, courteous and friendly staff and very good housekeeping. From a price perspective, it’s on the premium side, and would have preferred if the price included hot breakfast. Would love to stay again. Highly recommended.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at the Knight Residency. Whilst centrally located yet a quiet neighborhood. Well contained and most importantly very friendly staff! Would certainly reccommend it to everyone.

An excellent location with staff who are friendly and take great care in providing first class service. We will definitely return and will advise all our relatives to stay there. The provision of car parking is also most appreciated

Customer service is second to none. Right the way from the time the booking was made, through to a pre-arrival welcome email checking about any special requests, helping us settle into the apartment, caring for our baggage when we arrived early AND when we left late, and at all times in between - the staff were very friendly and helpful.... Fantastic central location in Edinburgh, secure onsite car parking, beautiful well appointed apartments which are well furnished to a high standard. Great welcome pack, there is also a Sainsbury store close by for any provisions required. This was our 3rd visit and certainly won't be our last, staff very welcoming and friendly.

Chosen for its convenient location for a two-night stay in Edinburgh for The Fringe. Clean, comfortable and quiet two-bedroom apartment - wish we'd realised when we booked that there weren't two bathrooms, but not really a problem - but what really impressed was the warmth and efficiency of the welcome from the gentleman on reception, and the comprehensive selection of... We stayed here for two nights in August 2015 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We rented a 2-bedroom apartment for three adults and two teenagers. The apartment was stocked with a great food basket and included fresh milk. The kids were left an activity kit and a cute little bear. The apartment management was wonderful and it was centrally located... More

We came to Edinburgh during the August festivals with our two children, ages 7 and 9. The two bedroom apartment was perfect! Spacious, clean and quiet. We had a kitchen and a washer/dryer combo that we found very useful. Very nice to have a selection of bread, cereals, and milk delivered on the first night. We walked everywhere from here.... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
