The hotel is lovely with fantastic views of the Castle, although a little noisy at night being on Princes Street. Location is excellent, right in the middle of everything you need. Wouldn't bother eating dinner at the hotel, the food wasn't very good and there was absolutely no atmosphere in the dinning room. The bar area was pleasant and the... more

Wonderful location, right on Princes Street, a great shopping area. Helpful staff - very willing to answer any questions about tourist destinations, etc. Right across the street from train station, close to internet cafes (Wireless in the hotel is $$$), restaurants. Stayed in a twin rom on the 6th floor. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom. Price was quite reasonable - stayed... more

Very nice. You can't beat the location for Edinburgh. Princess street is all torn up for the new metro line right now, but the hotel was great. Rooms had a fair amount of room, the service was good, and the hotel was quite nice. I would stay there again. more

After 2 nights at the Old Waverly I had a few itchy spots on my face. 36 hours later I had over 150 BEDBUG bites all over my body. Two days later the bites were so bad I had to visit a hospital emergency room, and take prescription steroids and antibioitics, as well as antihistimines for over a week. The... more

We spent 4 nights here in early April and were very pleased overall. We had a premium room and we would recommend this to others as it gives the most stunning views across the city. We had a raised seating area in a bay window with uninterrupted views across to the Castle and to the west, and to the south... more

What a great hotel, right on Princess Street, the main road in Edinburgh Scotalnd! Right across the road from the main train station at Waverley! Amazing restaurant in the hotel for a full Scottish Breakfast, including Haggis! Lots of hot water for a big bath or a long shower. Cozy beautiful room at a great price. I had a view... more

My husband and I visited the Old Waverley in February for a 2 night break. We flew up to Edinburgh but getting into the city was no problem as we hopped on a bus directly outside the Arrivals terminal. Within 20 minutes we were at the Waverley Station, our hotel just across the road. The staff were polite and friendly... more
