Can't be more convenient: on main street, railway station 5 minutes, old town 5 minutes. Many rooms with a view (old town and Walter Scott Memorial). Clean, comfortable, have character. More

We spent one night at this hotel, it was clean and centrally located, but mattress on the bed very lumpy and uncomfortable. Just as well it was only one night. When mentioning this on check out, we were informed that they are all currently being replaced. More

Although I am glad to hear this guest found the hotel clean and central, I am sorry to hear they were not impressed by the matrress. However, to re-iterate my colleague, we are indeed replacing all the hotels beds and all will be complete shortly. Our guests are telling us our new beds are fantastic! Excellent location of theis hotel at one end of Princes St, by Airlink bus stop and Tour bus stops. Only £69 DB&B booked online in advance. My only criticism would be the un-Scottishness of the food for evening meal. Not a whiskey sauce, a local steak or sniff of haggis in sight! I had cheese and biscuits and these weren't... More

Many thanks for such a great review and for such positive comments regarding our breakfast offering; there is no finer start to the day than a good bowl of Porridge! I have spoken with our Chef regarding the "Scottishness" of the dinner offering and he has taken your comments on board. Leon Kiteley General Manager More

I stayed one night in December 2011, arriving late from the airport. The welcome was kind and friendly. The room (409) spacious for a single room, the bathroom nicely fitted and relatively new. Very nice view of the old town. Top location for train service (the station is literally next door), airport connection (the buses stop just down the slope)... More

I am very sorry to hear that this particular guest experienced dissatisfaction with the noise from the city centre and I wish they had contacted me personally to discuss. We do have a selection of rooms available and can offer quieter rooms at the rear of the building. However, I am pleased to inform all our future potential guests that... More

Excellent Hotel in all aspects. The best location at Edimburgh. Very good and friendly staff. Good prices. The restaurant has a nice view to the Scott Monument and Princes Street and it serves a very good food for a very good price for lunch and a fair price for dinner. We just loved the hotel and specially the restaurant. We... More

We found this hotel through laterooms, but the hotel's own website gave us a better rate. We booked two rooms knowing that they could be small and with an internal view, but at the rate we were paying they were still good value. In the event, only one room was small but as it was recently decorated with a full... More

I am glad to hear that this guest enjoyed their time at the Old Waverley and my thanks to them for taking the time to write such a tremendous review. I am glad to advise that general traffic noise will calm down as the tram works progress and as far as most city centre hotels go- Edinburgh has to be... More

We were in Edinburgh for New Years and could not leave Edinburgh at our planned time because of bad weather. We asked if there were rooms available - didn't want to stay in the overpriced hotel we had stayed in for our first few days - and found a reasonable rate for a triple room, including breakfast. The room was... More

My partner and I have stayed in the Old Waverley Hotel over Christmas 2011, and we had a wonderful time. The location and luxury are a lot better than what I expected for the price we paid. The room was beautiful, including a bath and a view of the Edinburgh Castle. Breakfast was good, although a bit greasy. The service... More
