Have stayed at this hotel for the last 5 years and have booked again for this year, This trip is for a girlie shopping trip and time to spend with my 2 good friends, we always come in November and book a triple room which is big enough for us 3 and the room we stay in is on the... More

We booked last minute,it was a very good decision ! The staff on reception were very friendly and most helpful. The room we were given was spot on.Clean and comfortable.Whilst the view was an added bonus.Next morning we had a lovely breakfast to round off our stay.We would recommend the Old Waverley Hotel to anybody and will definitely go back.

View from the hotel room toward the Edinburgh Castle was great. Service was so so. The receptionists all seem indifferent. For the cost of the hotel room, I expected a little bit more. Have to pay for wifi. I requested and paid for 24 hour access, but was only got to use it for less than 12 hours. I probably... More

I booked one of the budget rooms here (internal no view) so I was expecting a lower standard room but it was much smaller than I had imagined, literally just room enough to move around the bed! However the room was very clean and had some storage. The hotel felt very cramped as the corridors were narrow and the lift... More

We stayed at the Old Waverly for two nights. They were a disaster. Unfortunately it put a damper on the entire trip. There is no parking for the hotel, so families who have hired a car need not apply for registration. The nearest parking is 8 blocks away - up an hill, across a park and down a hill -... More

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary at this hotel and were delighted with the whole experience, I understand other reviews about the signs of age but for us this added to the charm of the hotel it is an old building and should be appreciated for that, for us it was one of the factors when choosing . If you want... More

My sister and I stayed for 3 nights last week, recommended for its location by my brother. It was in the perfect spot, close to the station, right next to Jenners with George Street very close too. The hotel is a little worn around the edges, but still really good value for money. The room, although a little small (and... More

Just returned from 2 night weekend break to The Old Waverley Hotel in Edinburgh. Situated just across from the station( approx.,) 200 yards, it is in a perfect position for all to see and do in Edinburgh. Hotel room good size, clean and comfortable, given a front of hotel room overlooking Princes Street and towards Castle. Stairs to 1st floor... More

It was a nightmare finding the hotel, even with satnav, with construction works denying vehicle access. No parking and we had to find exorbitant parking blocks away. Rooms were musty dungeons in the middle of the building with no air and no windows. Booked in for 2 nights. Restaurant was not available till 7.30pm so opted for bar menu in... More

Oh dear...! Although it seems clear that this guest was unhappy before they even arrived at the hotel, I will investigate the claims made regarding poor service as there is never any excuse for this aspect of the operation to fail. There seems to have been some confusion over the food service on what was an incredibly busy night but... More

We found the staff to be welcoming and warm, the breakfasts tasty and served in beautiful surroundings and the rooms were of a good size. Be aware that there is no elevator access to the 1st floor reception although there is a lift from there to the other levels. Would definitely use this hotel again if we return to Edinburgh... More
