I stayed in the Royal British Hotel during a business trip in August. I usually stay at another hotel in Edinburgh but due to the festival this was our only option. It was close to the conference center so location wise it worked well. The rooms are odd to say the least. Weird colored lighting which corresponded to the color... More

Stayed here from September 5 to September 8. The reception staff were pleasant and very helpful. When they couldn't find my friend's bag in the luggage room (it was packed!), they offered to bring it up to the room later, which they did in a few minutes. The location is great, within walking distance of the castle and Calton Hill... More

This was a last minute booking as I needed something close to the station, and what a find. The hotel is literally opposite the main railway station, so great start, the hotel staff that we dealt with were all extremely helpful and pleasant. Our room wasn't quite ready so the receptionist said we could wait in the bar or he'd... More

Central location is all that was good.Room was very shabby need slippers for this hotel carpet in room very dirty when bed was moved had not been cleaned underneath, bathroom was not very clean, not a nice smell in corridors. Also this has to be the noisiest hotel ever really bad and goes on all night if I had drove... More

This is a very very old hotel which has recently been purchased by a chain and upgraded. I stayed in a fourth floor garrison room which had been upgraded and it was very nice. The decoration was outstanding, and the bathroom was beautiful. The hotel is right across from Waverly Station on Prince St. so it's very centrally located. An... More

The heating wasn't working so the room was cold with only a thin blanket and sheet on the beds. The fire alarm went off at 7.15am. Position is great but a bit shabby and disappointing in the circumstances.

Paid high price, but felt that the hotel was not up to high standards. Carpets on stairways were worn and patched with tape, although some had been replaced. Great breakfast, but not included in price. Room just OK, nothing to talk about. Location good. Wouldn't stay there again, not good value for the money. Much better alternatives which we used... I really liked this hotel. The rooms were clean and the food was nice and so was the staff. It is also in a great location on Princes Street next to lots of shops. It also has good views across to the old town as it is situated directly opposite the old town. We had a great stay and thoroughly... More

This visit has been a far cry from my last. The main areas of the hotel have been updated and apparently the entire budget was spent in the reception area and the restaurants. They should have focused on the lighting, wifi, and quality of everything else. My room was dark the wifi would not stay connected. Aside from one wall... More

We stayed here on an emergency stay recently. Rooms were modern enough and you can't beat the location but that's it. The rooms are so badly sound proofed you can hear the room next door breathe (seriously I am not exaggerating. Staff at reception were, sadly, not good at all, even rude I would say. Our booking via booking.com confused... More
