Central location, fair price, but the room is a bet: you don't know what you will get. Don't trust the official pictures. Our room was OK with a refurbished bathroom but the shower barely worked! Renovated reception and modern bar with great view of the centre completed the setting.

Stayed here for a couple of nights off-season. Reasonable price, so I didn't expect the room to be top notch and it was a little 'tired' in terms of decor, but comfortable, clean and fairly quiet. I believe the rooms are currently being upgraded so that should address some of the aforementioned. The staff were extremely helpful and the food... More

Started off nice in a very modern, clean reception. Then went to the room. S#%hole is an understatement. Thankfully had two beds in the room so I could choose the best of the worst. Mold on the ceilings and curtains. Furniture that belonged at a frat house garage sale. Paint chipping everywhere and by the amount of scuff marks around... More

Very nice hotel in Edinburgh city center, Princes St. All shops, restaurants and nightclubs are only a few minutes walk. Location of the hotel opposite from Edinburgh Waverley Station, with handy Coach Stop to/from Edinburgh Airport with 24hrs service. The Hotel is 3stars, but some new rooms and Reception/Lounge are 4 stars. Quality of beds in rooms is very good... More

The location cannot be beat. It's about a 2 min walk from the train station and about 20 mins to get to Edinburgh Castle. We were unable to get a refurbished room however it was still nice and the bed was rather comfy. There was some noise from the club but it wasn't loud enough for me to loose out... More

I stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions since september 2013 for business. The location is ideal for business or leisure. the hotel itself was clean but could be very cold at times. Its relatively comfortable but tight on space. perfect for the amount of time i spent in the room and suited my needs. Very clean and... More

Good things about this hotel: the excellent central location, the first class breakfasts and great service from the breakfast staff & the price Bad things about this hotel: incredibly noisy if your room faces Princes Street; refurbished rooms still leave lot to be desired (bathroom door not closing properly, badly laid out cramped room, hardly any coat hangers not much... Although the bar and restaurant are perfect, the rooms are shocking. Bits hanging off in the extremely drafty bathroom with a shower which has no moderate temperature. Freezing cold or skin peeling hot. The room was also fairly drafty and being at the back of the hotel had the pleasure of being wakened by the bin men or beer deliveries... More

The Royal British Hotel... Well. I stayed there for my birthday this march I thought because the hotel looked modern, stylish and in the heart of edinburgh that it would be a good place for me and my friends to stay. We were greeted rather friendly at the front desk and checked in, this is where it went down hill.... More
