Ask for a newly Refurbed room lot better then some of the other rooms also worth mentioning the cocktail bar within the hotel always very good and reasonably priced! I can see this place doing well with all the Refurbs and the management was happy to pull out all the stops to make our visit one to remember!

Arrived at Waverly and was glad that the hotel was right there. The entrance and lobby are inviting! The woman at reception was very kind and check in was quick. We were able to leave our bags with the front desk. The beds were comfortable and the place was very clean! The location is fantastic...Very close to the Royal Mile... More

I can't comment on the room or the hotel itself as we never got a chance to stay in it. Myself and my partner booked a room at this hotel through lastminute.com for tuesday 9th June as we were in the city for a music concert. On arrival we filled out the forms and noticed that we had a single... More

Excellent location close to station and shops. Was allocated a room on the top floor overlooking Princes Street and the old town, would be hard to think of a better view. That said it was a wee bit noisy when deliveries started coming in early morning but nothing too obtrusive. The room had recently been refurbished and is quite comfortable,... More

I booked into the Royal British Hotel for two nights as a break, on arrival I was greeted by a very helpful and polite gentleman on reception who checked me in, check in was swift and professional. Sadly this is were my good experience ended, I was allocated room 109, it was a large room and had everything I needed,... More

I got one of those old rooms where the shower is tiny, the bed is placed in front of the wardrobe such that it cannot be open fully. The bathroom floors look suspect and I would have prefer a pair of slippers in the room as well. Easy to locate hotel from Waverly train station.

I arrived for a 2 day business trip having not been into Edinburgh for some time, thankfully the staff at this hotel were courteous and brilliant and made some recommendations about where to eat, drink, etc. Nice little place, thoroughly recommend it.

The Royal British was not my first choice on Princess Street but the location was right. Perfect for Waverly Train station ....up the steps and across the road........and shopping........out the door and turn left or right!! All in all it was very good value. The reception staff was helpful and the two lovely, cheery ladies in the breakfast room were... More

Royal British Hotel has the perfect location! Just a few step away from the Weaverly train station. We took the Caledonian Sleeper train from Easton Train station. We requested for a room with the view of the old town and it was magnificent. The downside, though is that the hotel was right smack at the middle of everything that you... More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
