Just had an itison deal at this hotel and if you can see past the working progress, then this is a fabulous hotel. The manager Tony O'Donnel is so nice and nothing is a problem for him or the great staff that he has in this hotel, We were in room 407 and what a lovely room this is. At the... More

Fantastic central location, right on Princes Street and if you're lucky enough to get a room overlooking, then also a great view. The room is very nice, large with good sized TV and a huge bed. Great shower. Bonus points for a heated mirror in the bathroom. The Juniper bar seemed to be very popular and quite upmarket.

This hotel is being renovated as it changes owners to become part of the Hotel Indigo group and i stayed in one of the newly refurbished rooms which a lovely. The bar and restaurant were also really nice and the location couldn't be any more central. Definitely a hotel i would recommend for a visit to Edinburgh

Firstly, I'd like to say that we got excellent value for money. We booked through an Itison deal and paid £69 for a double room, b&b and got a free cocktail each. I called ahead of our arrival to discuss getting 'a room with a view' and I have to say that the receptionist could not have been more helpful.... More

We bought a twin room for £110 - bit steep! Especially given that we were put in one of the newly refurbished rooms. We phoned and emailed ahead but were told that none of the new rooms were available. This wasn't true - we telephoned booking.com who contacted the hotel for us and told us that they did have new... Situated right across the street from Waverley Station this hotel is in an ideal location for a sightseeing trip . Booked on a room only basis and were put in a newly refurbished executive double room on the 3rd floor . Unfortunately the view wasn't good but it was for 1 night and the bedroom more than made up for... More

Room 101, 27/12/15. Great looking room, however: Main shower head does not work, there is no light or anywhere to put your toiletries except on the shower floor; The plug in the sink does not work and there are no dry surfaces near to a mirror for a lady to apply her make up; The towel rail has sharp corners... Stayed here on the Itison deal and I must say I am absolutely thrilled with the value for money and our stay. Our room was on the top floor and had recently been renovated. It was a really beautiful room classy and quirky decor. Massive king size bed which was very comfy, and a really lovely spacious bathroom with a... More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
