We stayed for two nights at the Albany wanting somewhere nice and central for a weekend break. The quality of accommodation and service we received far exceeded expectations (we received a free upgrade) and the price we paid. The staff were friendly, the room spacious, well appointed and had all the nice little extras like a fridge and ironing station... More

The Albany is in a beautiful building, on a lovely street, but I was a little disappointed with our stay there overall. It is very conveniently situated for the station and Edinburgh's centre. When we stayed in January it was undergoing some well-needed redecoration but we experienced no disruption to our stay as a result of this. The staff were... More

We booked for this weekend using Agoda who were brilliant. Upon arrival, we discovered a noisy builders site and were slightly worried. The receptionist was very nice and checked us in albeit without an apology for the appearance of the hotel. We were then promptly taken to a room in the basement area. It felt very dungeon like. We opened... More

Initially shown to a room on the top floor which was very nice but discovered that the shower was not working (recent/ongoing refurbishment teething problems I think). The receptionist came up to try and get it working with but couldn't so he moved me to another room on the ground floor with no fuss. This was equally and nice and... More

We were in Edinburgh to see wicked and this hotel was ideal less than 5 mins walk and we were at playhouse. We were in room 104 which was a very large spacious room with a very large bathroom. It was spotless and room was nice and warm and there were loads of facilities within the room ie mini fridge... More

Recently had a night stay here 22/12/14 for some last minute shopping and break. Stayed in room 208 which we really liked. Was absolutely roasting which was nice to get out from the cold outside. Bed really comfy. Staff were all really pleasant. Breakfast might not be everyone's cup of tea but have to say I quite enjoyed the change... More

We have just returned from a two night stay, although we walked passed the hotel originally while trying to find it, It has no mention of Ballantrae on the signage outside, its just called the Albany Hotel ! A little confusing. It looks like most properties on the road a very large Victorian building however it is spread across several... More

Stayed last weekend. The place was a shambles, there is obviously refurbishment underway. We should have been advised of this beforehand,£447 for three days in what they call a 4* hotel but certainly does not appear to be is a disgrace. We spent most of our time in an excellent hotel around the corner In York Place,

Stayed last weekend - OK - location good, the room was acceptable - clean, good size including the bathroom. Looked like it had been refurbished recently however would just say that the attention to detail wasn't there!! Rest of hotel was shabby (corridors etc) but has no problems regarding noise etc, which was good as work was obviously going on.... More
