I felt right at home with the welcoming atmosphere, family style breakfast, and wonderful peace of the place. You feel you've made friends instantly, and after a day of shopping or sightseeing it's like coming home. Great location, easy walking distance to everything in old town, and to buses. There's even a small chapel if you want to attend morning... More

I think I would go back to Edinburgh just to stay at the Emmaus House again: Practically speaking, I was able to walk here from the train station carrying my luggage and find the place easily. My room was fine, etc. Breakfast was good. I was able to store my luggage during the day since I wasn't leaving Edinburgh until... More

It is a true guest house, with emphasis on making the guest comfortable. Food is available, or not, and the hospitality is gentle and kind. Rarely do I stay in a bed that is not my own and actually sleep well, but that kind of rest seems to be the atmosphere of the place, waking and sleeping. For those like... More

It is a very rare experiment to find such honest and sincere hospitality as that offered at Emmaus house. It feels as though one is returning to friends as people gather around the table for the evening meal. There is always plenty on offer to keep a visitor well nourished after a long day. The comfortable lounge offers a calming... More

I recently stayed at Emmaus house for some time when starting a new job in Edinburgh. I couldn't have made a better choice, this is not just a guest house but a home form home. Janet, Andrew and Jonathan give the warmest welcome and care about each and every one of their guests. In a completely unintrusive manner they live... More

We had such a good time with the community that we opted to stay longer. Everyone was fabulous. We especially liked being invited but not obligated to join in prayers and meals. As youth pastors we love to worship God, but really needed a break from being "in charge" and obligated. Maybe other pastors are more wholly than us, but... More

Warm welcome, great room with en-suite. Comfy bed and very clean. Breakfast great and 15-20 minutes walk to princes street. Close to shops and bars but not too noisy. Nice little lounge downatairs to watch TV and chat to others. Overall great and definitely stay again.

Not just a place to stay but a warm and welcoming community. The fabulous team of Janet and Andrew has recently been augmented by Jonathan, who handles a wide range of tasks with calm and stylish efficiency. Well-located on the 27 bus route to the Royal Mile and Princes Street, which are also within brisk walking distance if you prefer.

What can one say after spending almost two weeks in such a warm and wonderful home? Indeed, home! In Emmaus House I felt like more than just a guest, I felt part of a community of bright and loving people. Janet, Andrew and Jonathan and the volunteers give their best and in doing so bring out the best out of... More
