Spotlessly clean, simple accommodation. Jonathan, Janet and the Andrews made us all feel really welcome. Sharing a communal table was a lovely convivial experience and the food was plentiful, and amazing. I was part of a group but would be more than happy to visit as a solo traveller.

I am so grateful that we found this Guest house. The house itself is so comfortable and peaceful with huge windows and interesting details. Everything is clean. The location is perfect, only a block to great restaurants and pubs. The conventions center is a 10 minute walk; it seems most things are within walking distance. Transportation is very close, with... More

I've been staying at intervals at Emmaus House (EH) for over a year. EH is both a Benedictine based city centre community and the loveliest, most welcoming, open and unfussy bed and breakfast I've ever stayed in. The only thing that counts is that you are a welcome guest. You can make of the spiritual aspect whatever you wish -... More

This was by far one of the highlights of my two week April 2014 trip through the UK. I met up with a friend who was staying there and was welcomed to share the dinner table. WHAT A WONDERFUL COMMUNITY. After meeting new people over dinner, I joined in evening prayers and then spent the rest of the evening in... More

I have stayed at Emmaus House on various occasions over several years now and don't think I would stay anywhere else in Edinburgh. The communal table for breakfast and evening meal, friendly warm welcome and the genuine interest of the hosts in their guests is part of the charm and I feel as if I am coming back to friends.... For a city centre guest house Emmaus House is great value: 10-15 minutes walk to the city centre but a little oasis of peace and relaxation amongst it all. The team running it are a big part of that, making you feel you are in a home from home, and serving delicious homemade meals. Nothing is too much trouble for... More

This has been my second visit to Emmaus House - and once again it was one of the top experiences during my stay in Edinburgh! It's such an amazingly friendly place that welcomes you just as you are. The hosts are incredibly nice, caring and helpful - I owe Janet, especially, my thanks! If you like chatting with people, the... More

I stayed here on an introduction to meditation course. Janet, Jonathan and all who help to run it are so friendly and welcoming, the food is absolutely fabulous, and the room I stayed in was very comfortable. It'll definately stay here again whenever I'm in Edinburgh. Thank you Janet.

We spent three very comfortable nights at Emmaus House ...... spacious room (no. 3), with twin beds and ensuite; delicious meals, central location and – most important – the convivial company of Janet, Jonathan and friends. The reviews on this page are testament to their gift of hospitality. As others have said, there is the opportunity to reflect/meditate in the... More

I stayed here for 4 weeks and paid around 500 quid which is quite reasonable. It's actually a Christian Retreat Centre. I would like to thank Andrew and Jane for all their help. They serve a continental breakfast and other cereals, toast and fruits which is free.
