I have had the great fortune to have stayed at Emmaus House on numerous occasions over recent years and have also introduced Emmaus to others. Janet, Andrew and Jonathan are very friendly and caring hosts, and create a spirit of warm and genuine welcome which is a delight - I feel very much at home and have had some amazing... More

I have a confession! I stayed here 3 years ago while visiting the Fringe with my sister and didn't immediately review it as it was so good- I feared it would get so popular that there would not be space when I visited Edinburgh at a future date. ( my visit was 2011 but the drop down box doesn't go... More

Had a really nice stay here. The place itself is clean, quiet, and safe, and the people are lovely. Communal breakfasts were a great way to start the day. I am not a religious person but that was not an issue at all. There was a sense of welcome for everyone, and friendliness prevailed. I traveled all over Scotland, and... More

My wife and I were in Edinburgh for the Festival, and this was the perfect place to stay. We had a large comfortable front bedroom with a good bathroom. Good free Wi-Fi. Very friendly indeed, and the communal breakfast was great, and a lovely way to start the day, with fellow guests. The Christian values and prayers and not pushed... More

I was staying as part of a 1 week intensive course I was made to feel comfortable and looked after. I had my Guide dog with me, and they were very supportive of me, making sure I could get around and knew where everything was. Thank yiou Guys.

John having you to stay with your guide dog was ground breaking for us, we learned a lot about accessibility and we had lot of fun with you and the dog. Enjoyed having you and your group here. We will feel much more confident if someone comes to stay with their guide dog. I hope they do. More

Our family of five stayed at Emmaus House and had a very good experience. Everything from making the reservations to arriving and helping us navigate Edinburgh was very positive. Because it is a religious community of sorts it is a unique and special experience. The kitchen access and breakfasts are communal. We loved this! It gave us the chance to... More

Andrea, thank you for your review. In it you capture the essence of the house, it is very different and special. We are about hospitality and prayer. While all are welcome to join us in our little chapel, some do, no one feels pressurised to to so. Almost everyone joins in our hospitality meeting others from around the world at... More

I would highly recommend this B&B. Good communal spaces. Very nice people running it, that you could chat to. Reliable free wifi. It is a big old house with lots of character. The religious aspect is not pushed, though I choose to join morning prayers on one occasion. However, there are religious icons and imagery around the place, and you... More

If you are looking for luxury and glamour, this is not your place. If you are looking for a very clean, comfortable home away from home run by caring helpful people at a reasonable price, you will love it here. My sister and I shared a room for a week at Emmaus House. I haven't slept that well in quite... More
