This was a surprise 50th Birthday treat. The hotel was fine but very different when compared to Glasgow which we stayed in last year. We were offered a choice of rooms on arrival which was nice and opted for the four poster bed !!! Lovely room but it certainly needed more lights when it got dark. Couldn't see a thing... more

We've stayed in two other hotels in the Malmaison chain and have been very pleased but this one was very disappointing. At check-in we were told the lift was out of order but no help was offered with our luggage up the stairs. The public areas are getting a bit tired and shabby. Our room was uninspiring, with need of... more

I have stayed at the Malmaison in Edinburgh on several occasions last year for work and it is my first choice hotel in the city. Malmaison always tries to be a 'home from home' hotel but they dont always get it right and still have the corporate edge in many locations however Edinburgh has a relaxed friendly atmosphere that isnt... more

My husband and I got a good DB&B deal so decided to spend a night through in Edinburgh for a change of scene. When we arrived the weather was dreadful and we were cold and wet when we got to our room. Unfortunately the heating wasn't on in the room so it felt really unwelcoming. However, a quick call down... more

One night stay on way to Loch Lomond. Room 124 was good size , nicely furnished BUT was above the kitchens and very noisy as they played music constantly . Had to phone reception several times. staff did come up and tried to blame noise on a guest - rubbish- they must known room is above kitchen. I presume other... more

We stayed in Malmaison Edinburgh for one night in order to attend a small wedding at the hotel which consisted of a private dining meal and drinks. Positives: The food was lovely. The waiting staff were friendly and very helpful. As for our room, we paid £190 for a suite. We got Arthur's Suite which is on the top floor,... more

Cannot wait to come back to this hotel after a fantastic three day stay. Stopped here last year and had a great time however things were even better this time as we booked room 318 which came complete with two baths, one, where you might reasonably expect it, the other in the lounge area! Hey it might have been Joannes... more

Recent stay went well; hotel is ideally situated for Leith restaurants, etc, and only a short taxi ride to central Edinburgh. Staff were welcoming on arrival; a minor fault with our room resulted in an instant no hassle upgrade. Room clean, good facilities. Overall very happy. Only some minor niggles: the water in the bathroom could be variably hot, on... more

Malmaison saved our trip from being a total disaster - had to spend most of the weekend in the hotel due to catching a terrible cold. Luckily our room was comfy and cosy, and the bar on the ground floor had good service and an excellent selection of drinks to soothe the pain away! Cheerful staff on the front desk. more
