Got treated to an overnight stay with my sister. The minute I walked into the hotel I was completely wowed, so beautiful. The room was even better, very clean and again, beautiful. Breakfast was really nice and the staff were excellent. It does take 45 minutes to walk into Edinburgh, which in the dark was a little uncomfortable.

It is a nice hotel. Very clean and cosy room. Full equipped with mini bar and all the the necessary facilities. The wifi is fine. The breakfast buffet is good. Though is very hard to find the hotel location and is far away from city center.

Booked via their own web site on their Bed and Dinner offer, we paid for a superior room which very pleasant if a little plain, with a view up towards the city. An excellent evening meal which included lamb which my wife thought beautifully cooked, and a very good breakfast. The only downside was that the toiletries were not up... More

We have just got home from a 2 night stay here, the hotel was nice, check in and out easy! Car park at the back is free of charge handy for us as we drove down. We never had anything to eat in the hotel as the breakfast is nothing special for what they charge for it but had 1... More

Stayed here last night with four colleagues. Not one of us were impressed! Entered my room and the walk lights were hanging off and the other set were badly repaired. The bathroom had been used and not cleaned, there was damp Staines all around the French doors - curtains were filthy and didn't even draw properly. The furniture was tatty.... More

Overall this turned out to be a good place to stay. Staff were welcoming ,cheerful and helpful. Check in and out was quick and easy and on arrival we were offered help with our luggage, which was a pleasant surprise. Our room was clean, well furnished and equipped and we had a little bit of a view of Leith docks.... More

Stayed overnight here having never stayed in a malmasion before wasn't sure what to expect, check in was straight forward, the room was a good size with a wonderful bath room however you could see into the bathroom from the bedroom, I found this slightly disturbing and a little bit gross and wouldn't stay here again for those reasons as... This was our first experience of staying in a Malmaison hotel. We selected it because the alternatives in the immediate area were not much cheaper, and we were only staying for one night. Without being too 'unbritish', our rate for B&B was closer to £100 than £200. Checking in was straightforward and the receptionist booked us a taxi as requested... More

I was originally brought here as a birthday present, first time the stay was ok, rooms very hot and uncomfortable to sleep in as no air con due to the building (I was led to believe) and the room we stayed in was a tad scruffy looking. Second time was purchased by myself for my partners birthday, this stay was... More

I stayed in this hotel on a bed and breakfast basis whilst away from home on business. I had a large and very comfortable room with excellent bathroom facilities. It was well stocked and had a mini bar and allied goods which could be taken and accounted for on departure. I was also supplied with a robe and slippers. Breakfast... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It's the mother of all Malmaison's. The former house of ill-repute now has a reputation that's second to none, and it's also just a short taxi ride away from Waverley Station. Malmaison Edinburgh bides at Leith (as they say up here), just a stone's throw from the Royal Yacht Britannia, but offering far more funky luxury. Yes, when you want exciting hotels in Edinburgh, this is the King, not the castle. Our Edinburgh hotel puts you close to all of Edinburgh's cobbled splendours, incredible shopping and famous galleries. Then it's back to Mal for Scots dining with a twist, a fine selection of single malts and mojitos in the bar and then back to the slinkiest and most spectacular rooms in the Scots capital. ... more   less
