We have just stayed in the Mal for the marathon last weekend. Bought a package inc dinner and breakfast which seemed a good deal at £210. The hotel is a lovely building minutes out of the centre on the 22 bus, the journey costs £1.40 or a day ticket for £3.50. The hotel is a little 'shabby chic' and could... More

Stayed at the mal edinburgh for overnight easter weekend, our room was not up to normal Mal standards, was a bitty rundown & in need of some loving care. I have stayed here 4 times now , but feel that maybe standards are slipping. We aslo had drinks in bar , which was again slightly untidy , crisps spilled over... More

We stayed at Malmaison for 4 nights in May and were very happy with our stay. On arrival we were given the option to updgrade from the basic double room that we booked to a superior room for an additional £15 per night or to a suite for an additional £30 per night. We took the superior room and we... More

The moment you arrive you feel relaxed. Simple as that. A cracking bar, with big comfy cahirs, a super dining rooms and just a wonderful feel to the whole place. I love staying here, so different from too may other hotels in Edinburgh that are a bit chainy.

We stayed last weekend at the Edinburgh Malmaison for 1 night to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The hotel really is stunning. When we got out of the taxi(which cost £9 from the train station and took about 10 mins) I was quite taken aback by the beautiful building. When you walk into the entrance you pass through 2 structures... More

We had stayed at this Malmaison a few years ago and were fortunate to get a good price with inclusive breakfast. This time were were unable to find an offer that included breakfast and the cost per night for a standard room was more than £100. On check in the receptionist tried to be very persuasive about us ordering breakfast... More

I had to stay on business for one night and had no choice as the hotel had been booked for me. It's perfectly acceptable just for a night or so, however I would have preferred to stay more centrally as the surrounding area is fairly dull shop and local sight wise. As I like commercial architecture, the surrounding buildings and... More

Just had another fab overnight stay at the Mal. Can't fault anything. The staff are always friendly, polite and helpful. You know you're guaranteed a decent breakfast whether in the dining room or delivered in a cool basket to your room. Everything is cooked to perfection and no trouble at all to have extra toast or coffee. And if you... More

We stayed in Malmaison for one night last week and decided to avail of an upgrade for an extra £40. On first sight the suite looked really nice but a bit masculine, there was a bedroom and separate sitting area and ensuite. Both areas had a TV and the room was really nicely appointed overlooking the harbour. The faults began... More

We stayed at the Malmaison from 2-5 May 2012. Some reviews had said that the hotel was a bit far from city centre but we disagree. It is only about 3 miles and there is a regular bus service from the main road just near the hotel. The hotel is in a lovely old building but with very modern style... More
