I am staying 3 nights and got a room on second floor. Positive: Very friendly welcome by staff and spacious room. Super location - near everything! Clean bed and bathroom and no mold (no spots in the bath either!) Negative: Upolstery of furniture partly stained (hence my poor rating for cleanliness), doors in dire need of a lick of new... More

Excellent location. Front desk very helpful with dinner reservations and pre buying tickets for the Castle. We walked from and back to the Waverly train station and airlink bus with luggage as well as throuighout the city. Our package did not include breakfast. There was a coffe pot in the room and many breakfast spots within a 5 min walk.... More

Lovely hotel, positioned right on the royal mile. A couple of gripes though, the wi - fi was a nightmare to connect to, but fortunately there was a wired connection for the laptop. Not much use for the i-pad though! The TV could have done with a sleep timer. Everything else was great, the pool is a bit on the... More

Situated on Royal Mile - in between the Castle and Holyrood Palace. About 10 minutes walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station. Definitely worth the money. Very clean rooms. Attentive, helpful staff. Our room had a view of Arthurs seat. Full English and continental buffet breakfast available; although you could order, for example, eggs and kippers from the menu to be... My best friend and I travelled to Edinburgh for our mutual birthday treat. We needed to be close to the centre of things and this hotel was ideal. Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
