Booked a 2 night stay at the radisson 1st weekend in march and the location could not be faulted, staff that we dealt with were polite and courteous.Had a room on the 5th floor side view and although there was noise at night this is a city so you expect it,not a problem especially after a few whiskies to help the... A little pricy, but expected for a good hotel on the Royal mile. Car park is quite hard to find and costs £12.50 day. Breakfast is expensive (£17.85) but is excellent, it was included in the room rate for the deal we were on. Room was very large, well equipped and spotless. Staff were very nice and helpful. The best... More

This mock-castle building is very centrally located on the Royal Mile, a short walk to Princes Street or Holyrood. I stayed for one night as part of a mini-conference; my room was a corner one, large with good-sized bathroom and bath/shower, comfortable bed and chairs as well as desk space. I did nearly break my nose when first looking out... More

Nice hotel! Staff was exceptional. Derek at the front desk was great, professional & courteous. Also, Conceirge Jamie was always available & very helpful. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Location was more than ideal. Castle, train station and many restaurants within walking distance. We were very impressed with our brief stay. Look forward to returning! Highly Recommend.

We stayed here because of the location and the fact it has a swimming pool, somewhere I coud take my daughter after a days sightseeing. the staff were friendly and helpful, giving us some hep finding our way around! I found the swimming pool far too cold on the 2nd day although the sign was reading the same temp as... More

Great location and great service. Rooms were to a very high standard and the breakfast was exceptional. The only slight negative comment was the bar staff were very inexperienced and slow. 5mins walk to the Castle and pleny of bars/restaurants within walking distance.

Stayed one night only, in excellent location, rooms very comfortable and clean, good bathroom. Breakfast was one of the best we have had, standard fare on buffet but could order kioppers, eggs benedict etc. One downside, the communal areas on bedroom levels were a bit tired looking but would definately recommend.

Nothing was too much to ask for! Room was on the 3rd floor with a fantastic view of the Royal Mile and even the sea :)... More

Fantastic location - on the Royal Mile, just minutes from the castle. Excellent hotel, very nice rooms + bathroom. Excellent breakfast selection. Would recommend to business and leisure travellers. Would stay here again on another visit to Edinburgh.

You couldn't stay in a better location in Edinburgh than this - bang on the High Street - though I brt some Saturday nights could be a bit fraught if you have a room at the front. Staff were excellent and very knowledgeable. We asked for a recommendation for somewhere with traditional music and were directed to the Royal Oak,... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
